This past week, L5195 member and LFD Captain Sam Dougherty volunteered as a camp counselor with Hoosier Burn Camp. This marks Sam’s 14th year with the organization and his 12th year serving as a counselor at the annual summer camp.

This year’s theme was “Wild & Wonderful,” focusing on nature, the outdoors, and all the best aspects of a classic summer camp experience.

Hoosier Burn Camp offers a variety of programs throughout the year for burn survivors, from infants to young adults. These opportunities are made possible through generous donors and are provided free of charge to campers and their families.

Sam’s favorite part of volunteering with HBC is interacting with burn survivors and helping create fun, positive memories that last a lifetime.

Also in attendance was Lebanon local Makenna Whitfield, who attended the annual summer camp for the second year.
