***Tips lead to arrest***

The Marion County Sheriffs Office recently received tips that the Calvary Store on hwy 208 had been selling alcohol to minors.

Sheriff Gardner and deputies quickly launched an investigation. On May 15th, deputies conducted traffic stops on vehicles leaving the store and found multiple drivers/occupants under the age of 21 to be in possession of alcohol. The alcohol taken from these stops was confiscated.

On May 16th, deputies continued to observe suspicious activity in and around the store resulting in the arrest of a store employee by the name of Jigneshkumar Patel, on the charge selling alcohol to minors 2nd offense.

Marion County Sheriffs Office is committed to enforcing the law to ensure a safer community and following up on community complaints.

Thank you to the parents and public who expressed concern and for bringing it to our attention.

Chief Deputy Hayden, Sgt Richerson, Deputy Jewell, and Deputy Purdom continue the investigation.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of scam calls and text messages appearing to come from our office phone number, (270) 692-3051.

The caller or message claims that the recipient has missed a Federal Jury Summons and instructs them to call another phone number. THIS IS A SCAM.

Please remember:
• Law enforcement will NOT contact you by phone or text demanding payment or threatening arrest for missing jury duty.
• Do NOT provide personal information, banking information, or payment over the phone.
• Do NOT return calls to suspicious numbers provided in these messages.

Scammers can “spoof” phone numbers to make it appear that a call is coming from a trusted source — including our office.

If you receive one of these calls or messages, hang up immediately and delete the message. If you believe you may have been targeted or victimized, contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office directly.

Please share this post to help warn others in our community.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the volunteers, First Responders, and especially the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association, BAM Bouncies and the City of Lebanon for making our first annual Family Fun Day such a success!

It truly takes many dedicated people working together to plan and execute an event like this, and your efforts are GREATLY APPRECIATED. We believe the kids had a wonderful time, and we’re already looking forward to making this an annual tradition.

To clarify, no taxpayer funds were used for this event. The Family Fun Day was fully funded through generous donations from Independent Stave, Curtis Maruyasu, TG Kentucky, Bosley Funeral Home, and several anonymous donors who originally contributed to our Shop with a Deputy program. We also received support from the Heartland Coalition.

All donation funds are specifically designated to benefit our community, not the Sheriff’s Office itself, and all accounts are audited to ensure transparency and accountability.

Once again, thank you to these outstanding companies and individuals for helping us serve our community and bring families together.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a sincere thank you to Lebanon Walmart, manager Josh Grider and Tracy for their support in helping us secure a $2,800 grant.

These funds will go toward purchasing 9 new laptops for our deputies’ cruisers, helping improve efficiency and communication while also reducing the overall cost to our office.

We are truly grateful for community partners like Josh and Walmart who invest in the safety and success of our deputies and the citizens we serve.

THANK YOU!
