đźš’ MAY RECAP: Dedication Behind the Numbers đźš’

While you were enjoying the spring weather this past month, your local volunteer firefighters were hard at work. May was a busy month, and we want to share a look behind the sirens at what it takes to keep our community safe.

Here is a breakdown of our May call volume:

* 51 Emergency Calls answered.

* 101 Hours & 53 Minutes of total manpower dedicated to incidents.

* 280 Personnel Responses across those calls.

* 12 Personnel spent an additional 18 Hours in training to keep their skills sharp.

The Reality Behind the Numbers

When you see "280 personnel responses," it’s easy to picture a massive army of firefighters. But here is the reality: those 280 responses came from the exact same 10 to 20 dedicated neighbors.

Every single siren means these few individuals are dropping what they are doing—leaving the dinner table, waking up at 2 AM, or missing their kids' ballgames—to rush to your aid. They gladly give up time with their own families to protect yours.

🤝 We Need Your Help!
To put it simply: We are always in need of volunteers.

Answering 51 calls with a handful of people strains our dedicated crew. We need more hands on deck. You don't need prior experience to join—we provide all the training and gear. Whether you want to fight fires or help with scene support, there is a place for you.

Help us lighten the load for our current crew and step up for your community.

The SLFD wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to the Central Berks PD and the family of Officer Kristen Yeager who died in the line of duty last evening, May 29, 2026, while responding to assist another officer.

Ofc. Yeager previously served as a School Police Officer with the Cornwall-Lebanon School District as well as a part time municipal police officer in a neighboring municipality before moving to Central Berks Regional.

May Officer Yeager Rest In Peace.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than picnics, parades, and the unofficial start of summer. It is a day to reflect on the cost of the freedoms we enjoy every day and to remember those who never made it home.

As you gather with family and friends today, before the burgers and hot dogs hit the grill, please take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the heroes who gave their lives for our nation.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

🇺🇸 From all of us at the South Lebanon Fire Department, we thank and remember our fallen heroes. 🇺🇸

Good afternoon everyone, unfortunately this year and the years to follow we will not be doing pool fills. It was a decision made by the membership with the cost of fuel increasing, as well as other factors. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Funk Construction for their incredible support of our fire department and the Lebanon community! đźš’

It's companies like Funk Construction that make our volunteer fire service possible. When team members are willing to step away from their work to answer the call and serve their neighbors, it speaks volumes about both the individuals and the company culture that supports them.

To our members who also work at Funk Construction - thank you for your dedication both on the job site and in service to our community. Your commitment to being ready when the alarm sounds is what keeps South Lebanon safe.

We're grateful to be part of a community where businesses understand the importance of supporting volunteer emergency services. Thank you, Funk Construction, for standing behind your team members who also stand up for their community! 🙏

At Funk Construction, we take pride in our team members who go above and beyond to serve our community! đźš’ Recently, two of our dedicated team members jumped into action to assist with a fire in Lebanon, helping to manage the situation. It's truly inspiring to see how our crew contributes both on the job site and in the community.
