This month’s Employment Spotlight features Izzy who is just beginning her journey to employment. She started receiving Transition Services through Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities in June of 2023. Through this program she was hired at TJ Maxx. She has remained with the company and has worked at 2 different store locations. Izzy initially worked on the sales floor, focusing on stocking and organizing various departments. She then transitioned into a maintenance role, where she has continued to grow and thrive. Through this employment opportunity, Izzy has shown great improvement in both her work performance and communication skills. She is outgoing, personable, and has built positive relationships with her coworkers.

Izzy has continued to develop her skills by participating in services through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities’ Pre-Employment Transition Service. This service helps students with disabilities build practical skills for life after high school through job exploration, workplace readiness training, and real-world work experiences. The program connects young people to career pathways and support systems that promote independence and successful employment outcomes.

Izzy will be graduating from Springboro High School this May. She will then be attending Project Search this fall to continue her vocational training.

Izzy has worked hard to build her skills early on and has a bright future ahead of her.

We would like to give a spotlight to TJ Maxx for being a supportive employer!

We spoke with store manager Francesca Lindley to hear more about their experience employing individuals served by the Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

"Working with the Warren County Transition program has been such a fun experience. It has provided me the opportunity to meet and work alongside some of the kindest young men and women! The benefits of hiring students from this program are far and wide. These students are passionate about their work and are incredibly detail-oriented in their tasks. They truly have a positive impact on the organization and cleanliness of our store! The job coaches are always friendly, helpful, and make communication throughout the hiring and training processes very easy. I highly recommend partnering with the Warren County Transition program, and I look forward to continuing our collaboration with the program going forward as our current student workers graduate, and new students take their place."

Thank you, TJ Maxx!

A Warren County Autism mom, Addison Wolf, is sharing her family's story after her son received a Level 3 Autism diagnosis. At the time of Memphis's diagnosis, she felt so lost and confused and did not know where to turn.

So, she created a free "Autism Parent Survival Guide" for families to have so they are not alone. It is raw and unfiltered, and full of great resources and information.

Wolf shares, "It is called 'You Are Not Alone — The Newly Diagnosed Autism Parent Survival Guide' and it is written entirely from the perspective of a real Warren County autism mom — not a clinician or a researcher. It covers the emotional reality of a new diagnosis, therapy types explained in plain language, IEP rights, insurance navigation, self-care for parents, the impact on siblings, and how to find community when the isolation sets in. It is the guide I desperately needed the day Memphis was diagnosed and couldn't find anywhere."

Feel free to follow along on Memphis's journey by following them on Instagram. Their username is
