On a major tournament weekend at Nelson Park and Sports Complex and Atchley Park, Lebanon sees between 3,500 and 4,200 visits โ€” and more than 3 in 4 come from outside the city.

Those visitors don't just watch games. They fill seats at local restaurants, fuel up at gas stations, shop at local retailers, and in some cases stay overnight. Based on visitor counts and youth sports tourism industry benchmarks, major tournament weekends generate an estimated $150,000 to $200,000 in direct economic activity for Lebanon businesses.

"Our parks program has always been about giving Lebanon's families and athletes a place to compete and grow. What this data shows is that it's doing something else at the same time โ€” bringing thousands of visitors to Lebanon every weekend who spend money at our local businesses. That's a win for the whole community." โ€” Parks & Recreation Director John Shelton

Two-year visitor growth at Atchley Park exceeds 400%. The 2026 season runs through October.

Mountrose Street update: the first lift of asphalt is going down today. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Finish coat tomorrow โ€” and if everything goes as planned, this road comes back open this weekend.

Stormwater infrastructure done, curbs in, and now the final surface going down. Your transportation and stormwater tax dollars finishing the job.

This is what our parks and facilities are for. Lebanon Middle School students made the most of their summer at the Boswell Aquatic Center and pickleball courts this week. Good to see the next generation finding all the best spots in Lebanon Parks.

When Lebanon firefighters arrive at a medical emergency, they need to be ready for anything. Now, they have a place to train for exactly that โ€” right here at home. ๐Ÿ’ช

The Lebanon Medical Simulation Lab opened in October 2025 inside the Robert W. Plaster Center for Student Success. Lebanon Fire Department personnel, healthcare professionals, and students can now train using high-fidelity mannequins that breathe, blink, bleed, and respond to medications โ€” all without leaving Lebanon. Before this lab existed, that kind of training meant driving to Springfield. Not anymore.

Something special is happening in Lebanon this July 3rd โ€” and we want YOU to be part of it.

As part of our America 250 celebration, Lebanon is coming together to read the entire Declaration of Independence aloud โ€” section by section, voice by voice, as one community. Each reader gets their own passage and a spot at the podium. Mayor Jared Carr will be reading too.

This is your chance to stand up, speak out, and be part of Lebanon's place in America's 250th birthday.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Register to claim your section: https://ayrs.io/IMGCAe

Readings begin at 6:00 PM on July 3rd at the Old HD Lee Building site, 200 E. Commercial Street โ€” right in the heart of downtown Lebanon.

Lebanon showed up Friday morning. ๐Ÿ’œ

The 2nd Annual National Cancer Survivors Day brought our community together at the Curry Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital โ€” honoring strength, celebrating survivorship, and remembering those we've lost.

Mayor Jared Carr attended and presented a proclamation recognizing the day, closing with a ceremonial bell ringing by three survivors and fighters who rang it loud and proud.

Got old paint, batteries, or chemicals collecting dust in the garage?

Don't toss them in the trash. Household hazardous waste recycling is available in our area โ€” old paint, motor oil, pesticides, cleaning products, propane tanks, and more are all accepted.
