City of Lebanon, PA Government This is the official City of Lebanon, PA page used to spread all the good things growing in the city. Wilson.

The City of Lebanon was founded more than 250 years ago by George Steitz. By 1885, Lebanon was incorporated as a City of the third class, and since 1994, the City of Lebanon has operated as a Home Rule Municipality under the Mayor/Council form of government. Lebanon is currently governed by Mayor Sherry Capello and the Lebanon City Council including Brian Martin, Karen Haitos, Sean Maguire, George

Potash, and Cornell L. The City of Lebanon is strategically located almost equidistant from Harrisburg, Lancaster, and Reading. Lebanon is accessible from the south via the Pennsylvania Turnpike and from the north by both I-81 and I-78. The City’s 25,000 residents are served by numerous public, private and non-profit entities that have a positive impact on the quality of life. The buildings of Downtown Lebanon are historic and attractive. While many of the buildings date back to the 1800’s and some in the 1700’s, the work accomplished there includes local businesses serving local needs, as well as serving national and international clients in areas of advertising and website development.

Spring Swarm Season in Lebanon, PA

Helping Lebanon Residents Get Safe, Fast, No‑Cost Bee Relocation

The spring swarm season is underway across Pennsylvania, and city offices like animal control, parks, and non‑emergency dispatch often receive calls from residents who aren’t sure what to do when thousands of bees suddenly appear. Swarmed connects those residents directly with trained local beekeepers who can safely relocate the bees at no cost, reducing unnecessary city involvement and preventing extermination.

With over 60% of managed bee colonies lost this past winter, every rescued swarm plays a critical role in pollinator recovery. When someone reports bees at Beeswarmed.org, nearby beekeepers are alerted immediately — most respond in under 15 minutes. Swarm removals are free, and only complex established colony extractions may involve fees discussed directly with property owners.

Help Stop Mosquitoes Before They Start!

Residents are encouraged to help eliminate mosquito habitat by getting rid of standing and stagnant water where mosquitoes lay eggs. Common places water can accumulate are outdoor features like potted plants and birdbaths, yard debris like, storage bins, kids’ toys (including kiddie pools), rain gutters, and even corrugated downspouts.

Turn over plastic wading pools when not in use. Stagnant water in a wading pool becomes a place for mosquitoes to breed.

Dispose of tin cans, plastic containers, ceramic pots, or similar water-holding containers that have collected on your property.

Turn over wheelbarrows and don't let water stagnate in birdbaths. Both provide breeding habitats for domestic mosquitoes.

Aerate ornamental pools or stock them with fish. Water gardens can become major mosquito producers if they are allowed to stagnate. Clean and chlorinate swimming pools not in use. Mosquitoes may even breed in the water that collects on pool covers.

Pay special attention to discarded tires. Stagnant water in tires is an excellent habitat for mosquitoes to thrive.

Eliminating tires from urban environments is critical to reducing mosquito populations associated with transmitting diseases from mosquitoes.

Working together, we can help keep our community safer and more comfortable this season!

♻️ Recycling in the City of Lebanon is Mandatory—Let’s Do Our Part!

Did you know? Every resident and business in the City of Lebanon is required to recycle, and for good reason! By recycling right, we help reduce waste, protect our environment, and save valuable landfill space for future generations.

Recycle these items:
Aluminum & steel cans
Glass bottles (clear, brown, green)
Plastics #1 & #2
Newspaper, cardboard, office paper & magazines

Remember: Items must be clean, empty, and free of contamination. No plastic bags, Styrofoam, or food-soiled items.

Residents & Landlords: Make sure recycling containers are accessible and used properly. You can recycle curbside through your waste hauler or drop off extra materials at the City Recycling Center.

Together, we can make a big impact. Keep Lebanon clean, green, and thriving! 💚♻️
