25 years later, we continue to remember September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our nation. We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the families and communities affected, and the countless acts of courage, compassion, and unity that followed. In the face of unimaginable tragedy, our country came together and reminded us of the strength found in standing together.

Today, we honor the lives lost. Their memory remains with us, and we will never forget.

Over the last several weeks, all four North Lebanon Township fire companies have been learning and reinforcing patient packaging techniques using Stokes baskets, as well as how to use haul systems.

A haul system is a rope-based system that provides a mechanical advantage to firefighters in moving a patient or heavy load over difficult terrain with greater control and less effort.

Yesterday evening, members put those skills together during a full-scale training exercise. One team packaged and secured a patient in a Stokes basket before working with the hoisting team to connect a 3:1 haul system. This setup reduced the amount of pulling force needed to move the patient and allowed the team to safely and efficiently haul the patient up the hill.

It’s nearly September and school is back in session. Remember, drivers must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses with red lights flashing and stop arm activated.

Yellow lights on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop.

If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children.

In preparation for the grand opening of Sheetz on Long Lane, Ebenezer Fire Company, Glenn Lebanon Fire Company, and Rural Security Fire Company conducted a walk-through of the new location.

The visit allowed crews to become familiar with emergency vehicle access, building entry points, utility controls, and water shutoff locations — helping ensure a safe, efficient response should an emergency occur.

The new Sheetz will officially open on Wednesday, August 12.

A huge thank you to Kochenderfer Church for hosting this evening’s National Night Out and bringing our community together for fun, conversation, and connection.

National Night Out is an annual event that strengthens the partnership between first responders and the communities they serve, promoting safer neighborhoods through community engagement and relationship-building.

All four North Lebanon Township fire companies were proud to participate, bringing multiple fire apparatus for the public to view. We were also joined by a Life Lion flight crew, First Aid and Safety Patrol, Lebanon County Regional Police, and several additional neighboring organizations, giving community members the opportunity to meet local first responders, ask questions, and learn more about the services and equipment that help keep our community safe.

Ebenezer Fire Company was proud to attend the Lebanon Area Fair yesterday. It was a great opportunity to answer questions and share what it means to be a volunteer firefighter.

This morning, members from Ebenezer Fire Company, Glenn Lebanon Fire Company, and Rural Security Fire Company visited Kochenderfer Christian Day Care to share important fire safety information with students from Pre-K through 5th grade.

The students enjoyed coloring activities, learning about fire apparatus, and taking part in fire prevention and safety education.

We always enjoy helping teach the next generation and appreciate the chance to connect with our community.
