Boone County Prepares for Severe Weather

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is closely monitoring forecasts indicating the potential for severe weather to impact Boone County and surrounding areas.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather-aware throughout the day and evening by monitoring reliable weather sources and following updates from local officials. Depending on conditions, hazards may include strong winds, heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning, hail, localized flooding, and the potential for tornadoes. Forecasts can change quickly, and everyone should have a plan in place before severe weather arrives.

The Sheriff's Office encourages the public to:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, especially overnight.
• Identify the safest location in your home or workplace, preferably an interior room on the lowest floor away from windows.
• Charge cell phones and essential electronic devices.
• Secure outdoor furniture and other loose items that could become airborne in high winds.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.

Community shelters are available for those who may need a safe place during severe weather. The following locations are open and available for public use:
Boone County Courthouse - 201 Courthouse Sq, Lebanon, IN - Now until 11:59 PM
Zionsville Town Hall – 1100 W Oak St, Zionsville, IN
Thorntown Town Hall – 101 W Main St, Thorntown, IN
Advance Fire Department – 106 E Wall St, Advance, IN
Whitestown Fire Station 272 – 6800 S Indianapolis Rd, Whitestown, IN - 4:00 PM to 11:59 PM

Emergency personnel will continue to monitor conditions and respond as needed. The Boone County Sheriff's Office asks residents to stay informed and use caution. For emergencies, call 911. For the latest weather information, monitor trusted local media and the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.

We're grateful to be a part of the Housing Task Force of Boone County and to have the opportunity to see organizations across the county coming together to address one of our community's greatest challenges—housing.

Yesterday's Boone County Housing Forum brought housing resource providers together to share information, strengthen partnerships, and explore ways to better serve our neighbors in need. Collaboration like this helps ensure individuals and families can more easily connect with the support and resources available to them.

At Love INC Boone County, we believe that when organizations, churches, and community partners work together, lives are transformed and hope grows.

WOW!!!
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting VBS at New Hope Christian Church to talk to the kids about the work we do here are Love INC Boone County, and let's just say the number of kids and volunteers was mind-blowing! 🤯

We are so thankful that they have chosen to support the work of Love INC as their VBS Mission this year and for all of the donations that they are collecting. It is inspirational to see all of these children worshipping and learning about Jesus! We are so grateful for their partnership! 🥰

We had a great morning at New Hope Baptist Church in Jamestown celebrating the dedication of their new GAP Ministry, The Hope Chest! This ministry will provide food, clothing, personal care items, and more 24/7 to anyone with needs! We have witnessed God at work from the first initial concept and are ready to see how he will use this to reach others. We are so blessed with amazing church partners in Boone County! 🥰
