Join us on June 30 from 2:30–5:30 PM for a special Car Seat Check Event! The Fishers Police Department has several Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians who will be available to inspect car seats, answer questions, and help ensure your child is riding safely.

✅ Opportunity to receive a new car seat if your family needs financial assistance

Families who need assistance obtaining a proper car seat may be eligible to receive one through the IU Department of Pediatrics Automotive Safety Program. If you need a car seat, please note that in the Special Requests section when registering and include your child's age, height, and weight.

⚠️🌊 Drowning doesn’t look like it does in the movies.

It can happen in as little as 30 seconds for children and 60 seconds for many adults, often silently—even close to shore.

👀 Around 40% of drownings are witnessed. Most of the time, others may be nearby but don’t realize someone is in trouble.

Learn the 4 signs of drowning:
🔹 Head back
🔹 Mouth open
🔹 Not yelling or calling for help
🔹 Arms slapping the water surface (not waving around)

🦺 Most importantly, always wear a life jacket to avoid an accident becoming a tragedy.

Boone County Prepares for Severe Weather

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is closely monitoring forecasts indicating the potential for severe weather to impact Boone County and surrounding areas.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather-aware throughout the day and evening by monitoring reliable weather sources and following updates from local officials. Depending on conditions, hazards may include strong winds, heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning, hail, localized flooding, and the potential for tornadoes. Forecasts can change quickly, and everyone should have a plan in place before severe weather arrives.

The Sheriff's Office encourages the public to:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, especially overnight.
• Identify the safest location in your home or workplace, preferably an interior room on the lowest floor away from windows.
• Charge cell phones and essential electronic devices.
• Secure outdoor furniture and other loose items that could become airborne in high winds.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.

Community shelters are available for those who may need a safe place during severe weather. The following locations are open and available for public use:

Zionsville Town Hall – 1100 W Oak St, Zionsville, IN
Thorntown Town Hall – 101 W Main St, Thorntown, IN

Whitestown Fire Station 272 – 6800 S Indianapolis Rd, Whitestown, IN - 4:00 PM to 11:59 PM

Emergency personnel will continue to monitor conditions and respond as needed. The Boone County Sheriff's Office asks residents to stay informed and use caution. For emergencies, call 911. For the latest weather information, monitor trusted local media and the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.

Severe weather is possible across much of Indiana this afternoon and into the overnight hours, with damaging wind gusts, large hail and tornadoes all possible.

Now is the time to review your severe weather plan and make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially while sleeping. If a Tornado Warning is issued for your area, move immediately to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
