The Lebanon Public Library is now a FamilySearch Affiliate Library. FamilySearch is a free online genealogical research database (users need to create their own free account) with millions of records. For various reasons, access to some of the records in the database is restricted to Affiliate libraries. Researchers accessing their accounts from a library computer will be able to view those restricted records.

Upcoming program at the Frankfort Community Public Library: The Rural Cemetery Movement came to Indianapolis in 1863 with the opening of Crown Hill Cemetery. The cemetery quickly became an iconic place to bury loved ones, military heroes, presidents, the famous, and the infamous. Director of Historic Preservation Jeannie Regan-Dinius will explore the legacy of the cemetery, those buried there, and the cemetery’s significance in Indiana history at the Frankfort Community Public Library on September 23 at 5:30 p.m.

Regan-Dinius holds a B.A. in Public History from Ball State University and a Master of Library Science-Information Management and Urban Planning from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis. For 21 years, she served as Cemetery and Burial Ground Registry Coordinator for Indiana's Department of Natural Resources–Division of Historic Preservation & Archaeology. In that role, she not only surveyed cemeteries throughout the state but also advocated for the preservation of these historic sites. Regan-Dinius has served in her current role with the Crown Hill Foundation since 2022.

This Clinton County Genealogical Society meeting is free and open to the public. It will be held in the Library’s lower level meeting room. For more information, contact Jill Garrison at (765) 654-8746, ext. 1137 or [email protected].

The Lebanon branch of the BMV has left the library to return to its home location.

02/10/2025

Due to a facilities issue, the Lebanon branch of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles has temporarily relocated to the Heritage Center at the Lebanon Public Library. BMV operations will be open to the public from 9:30 AM-5:30 PM Monday-Friday. It will fulfill all branch transactions but will only accept credit card payments.

This should not greatly impact researchers' access to Heritage Center materials (some shelves usually open for browsing may require a librarian to access).
