📢 Update on FEMA Disaster Declaration for Marion County (June Flooding)
​We’ve received many calls this morning following yesterday’s FEMA announcement, and we want to clear up what this declaration means for our community.
​Yesterday’s approval was for FEMA Public Assistance, not Individual Assistance:
​Public Assistance (Approved): Helps county and city governments, public utilities, and certain nonprofits cover the costs of repairing public roads, bridges, culverts, and infrastructure damaged during the June flood. It does not provide grants or direct financial aid to private homeowners or renters.
​Individual Assistance (Still Pending): This is the program that provides direct support, housing help, or repair grants to individuals and households. A decision on Individual Assistance has not yet been announced.
​We know how tough the recovery has been, and we are still actively advocating and awaiting news regarding assistance for our residents. While approval is never guaranteed, our request remains under review at the federal level.
​What you can do right now:
​Continue documenting all damage with clear photos and video.
​Keep every receipt and invoice related to repairs, cleanup, and temporary living costs.
​Check with your local insurance agent if you haven't already filed a claim.
​We are monitoring this daily and will post the moment an official decision on Individual Assistance is made. Thank you for your patience and resilience as we work to rebuild Marion County together.
