The County Attorney’s Office serves a variety of roles which include: prosecuting violations of the criminal laws of the State of Kansas for both adults and juveniles; instituting proceedings to protect abused and neglected children; securing care and treatment in alcohol, drug, and mental commitment cases; appearing before the appellate courts of Kansas and the United States Supreme Court; and providing services to victims and witnesses to ensure their fair treatment in the criminal justice system. Successful prosecution of criminal cases relies on effective investigative and prosecutorial practices, as well as the cooperation of victims and witnesses to the criminal action.
