Wilco Young Dems and friends were all the way up in Lampasas this week! 🌊🌊🌊 Justin Early has been holding townhalls all over CD 31, showing up for the people and to listen to voters. 💙🩵🫡

This month, Rise Up Book Club discussed The Upswing by Robert D. Putnam with Special Guest Heather Jefts Heather Jefts. Heather has been on the City Council in Cedar Park and is now running for County Judge in Williamson County. This was a great book showing how ordinary people can make an impact on their society. In today's age, we get sucked into major national events and miss what's happening in our communities. Heather wants to show the community the impact local government can have on our daily lives. Today we spent time talking about how we can find common ground, build social trust, and make changes instead of waiting for our leaders in D.C. to take action. The Upswing focuses on history to teach us how we came together before and how we can do it again; our in-house cynics reminded us that there are people looking back at the same history to see what went wrong, so this time they can hold on to power and keep us divided. Most of us left hopeful for the future, but with questions that can't be forgotten while we make steps towards a progressive nation again. We all left ready to take action in our local community, find ways to meet new people, leave space for uncomfortable conversations, and help Heather Jefts win in November! This past weekend, 10 Williamson County Young Democrats drove to Corpus Christi to attend the Texas Democratic Convention where we made young voices heard! We participated in committees and caucuses, connected with other progressives from across the state, heard fantastic speeches from candidates and party leaders, including our own Matthias Early and Stephan Z, and our own Hannah Horick was elected to SDEC for CD 31!
