Today is Peace Officer's Memorial Day.

The importance of remembering our fallen brothers and sisters, and continuing to support the families and loved ones they left behind, cannot be overstated within our profession. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifice their families continue to carry, deserves our our ultimate respect and remembrance.

Last night's car seat clinic was a great success!

Thanks to our sponsors, Helping Minnesota Heroes and the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation we were able to purchase seats for children that did not have a proper fitting/safe seat, to be issued at the event.

✅23 car seats were checked
✅12 new seats were issued for children that did not have the correct seat
✅6 additional seat checks were scheduled after the clinic for families unable to attend.

There were 5 certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians that assisted with the event, including individuals from Le Sueur County - Government, Saint Peter Police Department, and the Belle Plaine Police Department.

We were also joined by the South Central Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Coordinator, South Central Service Cooperative Youth Mental Health Navigator, and MVAC Le Sueur County Home Visitors to share resources with families in our community.

And we were able to safely and efficiently manage this event with use of the Le Sueur Fire Hall and assistance from the Le Sueur Fire Department.

Thank you so much to each of you that helped to make this event such a success!

As we head into the summer months, we’re sharing a resource to help keep students safe during what is known as the 100 Safest Days of Summer (Memorial Day and Labor Day). The 100 Safest Days of Summer Coalition has compiled materials that highlight important safety reminders for students and families.

You can download all documents at the link below:
https://www.100safestdaysofsummer.org/resources

We invite you to share these materials on your school’s social media platforms to help spread the message to your students and community. All pages are bilingual, English on first page with Spanish on the flipside. The snapshot ends with the Summer Safety Pledge that you can have your students sign.

Feel free to copy and paste content directly from the resource and schedule posts as needed. Everything is designed to be easy for schools to use and share.

Thank you for helping keep our students safe this summer!
