AMERICAN LEGION POST 241
LEMARS MEMORIAL WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

*SATURDAY 23 MAY
-7am: 🇺🇸 American Legion Riders to set grave Flags at LeMars Memorial Cemetery.
-8am: 🇺🇸 Wasmer Post members & community to locate Flag Half-Staffs at Courthouse Lawn.

*MONDAY 25 MAY
-6:00am: 🇺🇸 Wasmer Post 241 members and community members will begin placing American Flags in the Half-Staffs at the Courthouse Lawn. All help is greatly appreciated! A breakfast for all helpers will be held afterwards at the LeMars Legion served by Sons of the American Legion Squadron 241.
-9:30am: 🇺🇸 Memorial Day Parade begins at corner of 8th St Blvd & Central Ave SW and moves to Courthouse.
REMEMBER: When the American Flag passes by, it represents all who have served her in uniform and are no longer with us. Please rise to your feet (if able), remove your cap and place your hand over your heart.
-10am: 🇺🇸 Wasmer American Legion Post Memorial Day Program begins at Courthouse. The names of all deceased Plymouth County men and women represented by the Flags will be read by Patrick Murphy, war wreaths will be presented and placed by Wasmer Post Legionnaires and Auxiliary members and a Memorial Day message will be given. Legion Rider Chapter 241 members will perform the Battle Cross display. We recommend bringing lawn chairs or a blanket to observe the program.
-🇺🇸 Lunch for all will be available at the Legion after Memorial Day Program concludes.
-4pm: 🇺🇸 Courthouse Flag retirement begins. All help is appreciated.
Chapter 241 Riders meet at the LeMars Memorial Cemetery to remove grave flags and transport back to the Legion.

Here is the first reminder for our Memorial Day Holiday Schedule from Monday 5/25/2026 to Saturday 5/30/2026. We are closed for Memorial day, this means everyone’s collection day will get pushed back by one day:

➡ Monday’s collection is collected on Tuesday (May 26)
➡ Tuesday’s on Wednesday (May 27)
➡ Wednesday’s on Thursday (May 28)
➡ Thursday’s on Friday (May 29)
➡ Friday’son Saturday (May 30)

The following week after a Holiday, your collection days go back to your normal days. Please let us know if you have any questions.

The Water Department will be flushing the north side of town starting Monday, May 4th at 8am. The following week Monday, May 11th we will begin flushing the south part of town; it could take up to 2 weeks to flush the south side. Residents should refrain from washing any clothes or running any more water than needed between the hours of 8am and 3:30pm on the days we are flushing in your area.
