Ladders Up!

Last night, we had the opportunity to train with our friends from the Bettendorf Fire Department for our first joint training of the year. We covered all things ladders, including throwing multiple sizes of ladders, removing victims from a window onto a ladder, and working on our new parapet wall prop using our aerial platform to access a roof.

Thank you to Engine 4 for coming over to train at our facility. We appreciate the opportunity to work together and look forward to more training with BFD later this year.

A line of thunderstorms across the area is bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail, including isolated tornadoes along and south of I-80. Flash flooding is also occurring along the Highway 20 and 30 corridors. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and do not drive through flooded roadways!

Strong winds are moving into the Quad Cities, along with embedded areas of rotation. Main message is take shelter in a sturdy structure, lowest level ideally, as these winds with potential for embedded tornadoes moves through. Area of greatest concern is near Blue Grass moving east.
