‼ 👮‍♂️WE'RE HIRING👮‍♂️ ‼

The LeClaire Police Department is taking applications for a FULL-TIME police officer position. The City of LeClaire offers competitive wages, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, paid time off and many other great benefits.

📅Current schedule:
4 10-hour shifts with 3 days off every week
💰Pay:
-$29.60 for new hire, non-certified, probationary officer
-$32.20 for new hire, certified officer (with a minimum of 2 years as a full-time L.E.O)
-$6,000 sign-on bonus for certified officers

📋Minimum Requirements:
-At least 18 years of age
-High school diploma or GED equivalent
-Valid driver's license
-Must pass a background/criminal record check

📅Mark your calendars! 🍔🌭

Please join us on Saturday, June 6th from 11AM–1PM at Fareway for our department’s 2nd Annual Fundraiser Cookout!

Once again, all proceeds will benefit our annual “Shop With A Cop” event.

For those who may not be familiar, Shop With A Cop is a wonderful program we participate in each December. Officers are paired with local children whose families may be experiencing some hardships, and together they go on a shopping trip to pick out Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Afterwards, the officers and kids return to the station for more fun and a delicious lunch!

It’s a great opportunity for our officers to connect with the community while helping spread some much-needed joy during the holidays.🎄

Our officers will be working the grill and serving up food to help raise money for a program that is incredibly important to us and to some families in our community.

We’d be so grateful for your support, and we hope to see you there!👮‍♂️🍴

🚨 Humans Behind the Badge 🚨

We are excited to introduce you to our newest officer, Ethan Dollins!👮‍♂️

Fun fact: Ethan is the first LeClaire Police Officer in a very long time (as far back as any of our veteran staff can remember) who was born and raised right here in LeClaire. 📍

After graduating from Pleasant Valley High School, Ethan attended the University of Iowa, where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice. 🎓

Next week Ethan will begin his 16-week training at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, where he will complete several courses and experience hands-on instruction to prepare for his career in law enforcement. 📚🚔

To help the community get to know Ethan a little better, we asked him a few questions:

1. What made you want to become a police officer?
I’ve always wanted a career where I could make a lasting and positive impact in people’s lives.

2. What does it mean to you to serve the same community you grew up in?
It means everything. LeClaire has always been home so it’s special to now have the opportunity to serve and protect and give back to the community that meant so much to me growing up.

3. What are you most looking forward to at the academy?
I’m looking forward to meeting other new officers from around the state and learning as much as I can as I begin this career.

4. What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy riding my motorcycle and getting out on the road whenever I can.

5. Favorite movie or TV show?
Back to the Future

6. Favorite local food or go-to restaurant?
Happy Joe's

7. What is one thing you can’t live without? (Phone doesn’t count!)
MUSIC!

8. Do you have any hidden talents?
Flying! I’m currently working toward earning my pilot’s license.

9. Are you a coffee person or energy drink person? And what’s your go-to?
Energy drink person and Monster.

10. If you weren’t going into law enforcement, what do you think you’d be doing?
I’d probably be pursuing aviation to become a pilot.

11. Since starting with our department, has anything about the job surprised you or been different than you expected?
I’m surprised about the amount of paperwork and disappointed about the lack of donuts!
