Comanche County Health Department

Comanche County Health Department District 5 - Health Department. Working together to improve the community's health. Serving SW OK.

Welcome to the page of the Comanche County Health Department. We hope that you use the information on this site to promote your personal health, the health of your family and the health of our community. The Comanche County Health Department is pleased to be among the first in the nation to receive newly established national public health department accreditation status through the Public

Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The accreditation process helps to ensure that the programs and services we provide are as responsive as possible to the needs of our community. With accreditation, the Comanche County Health Department is demonstrating increased accountability and credibility to the public, funders, elected officials and partner organizations with which we work. To receive accreditation, a health department must undergo a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed process to ensure it meets or exceeds a set of quality standards and measures
Our Vision is “Creating a State of Health”. Our Mission is “To protect and promote health, to prevent disease and injury, and to cultivate conditions by which Oklahomans can be healthy.” We do this by monitoring the health of our community, identifying and responding to health threats, providing timely and accurate information, enforcing laws that protect health and providing quality services to prevent and control disease. Comanche County Health Department facilitated a County Health Assessment in the Spring of 2010. This is a five year process so our next County Health Assessment will be in 2015. Our Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) was updated in 2014. Many community partners gathered to identify the following Comanche County priority health issues:
• Obesity
• To***co Use
• Access to Care
• Sexual Health
• Violence

Sometimes "You good?" is just a question. Sometimes it is an invitation to really talk.

Ask it. Mean it. Listen to the answer.

The 988 Mental Health Lifeline is free and confidential, day or night. Call or text 988 to talk with someone.

Our partners at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services have more ways to check in on yourself and the people around you.
