Family Promise of Lawton, INC Our mission is to equip & empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence

Family Promise helps local communities coordinate their compassion to address the root causes of family homelessness. We address the issue holistically, providing prevention services before families reach a crisis, shelter and case management when they become homeless, and stabilization programs once they have secured housing to ensure they remain independent. We tap existing local resources to empower families toward economic stability. Families come to us in crisis; we help them rebuild their lives with new skills and ongoing support. Some of the ways Bridge to Success helps families stay focused on the goal of improving their lives:

Move-in & rental assistance
Home repairs
Vehicle maintenance & repairs
School uniforms & supplies
Workforce development
Financial literacy training
Food pantry
Family Wellness
Bus/train tickets
Certification/licensing fees
Holiday donations & birthday celebrations

PREVENTION & DIVERSION
We are there when a family’s homelessness is imminent, and we work to avoid the trauma of a family losing their housing. Our Affiliates do this through:

Case management and community support
Rental assistance, security deposits
Utility support
Landlord mediation
Housing location
Transportation – gas cards, bus passes, and car donations
Keeping families out of the shelter is good public and fiscal policy. When families have lost housing and reach out to Family Promise, we provide alternatives to shelter, including:

Temporary hotel/motel stays
Payments for rent in arrears, security deposits
Landlord mediation and housing location
Creative solutions leveraging a family’s strengths

STABILIZATION & ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY SERVICES
Programming after shelter helps families remain housed. These structured graduate programs provide continued support and reduce the risk of a family’s re-entry into homelessness. Examples include:

Tenancy training
Homeownership
Financial capability
Educational initiatives
Career pathways
Technology support
Health and wellness
In addition to the many initiatives and programs available when families reach out to us in crisis, we organize communities to offer:

Food pantries
Furniture donation
Drop-in community centers
Clothing closets
Diaper banks
Holiday gift drives
