In preparation for the funeral service today honoring Fish and Wildlife Officer Taylor, the Lawton Police Department and Streets Division will temporarily block SW 5th & Gore and SW 6th & Gore this morning, with additional closures near and around First Baptist Church downtown.

Downtown will remain accessible to motorists and business-goers as needed. LATS bus pickup will be located to the south of the Lawton Public Library. Please use caution, allow extra time, and be mindful of the service.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Officer Taylor’s family, friends, and fellow officers. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we honor Officer Taylor.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of retired Lawton Police Lieutenant Larry LaFrance.
LaFrance proudly served the Lawton community for over 20 years.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Due to the ongoing fire near Meers and 115 we are advising that Lake Lawtonka will be closed.

This will allow for aircraft to scoop water and assist with the fire.

Please be mindful of the first responders and allow them room to combat the current conditions.
