School’s Out – Let the Summer Adventures Begin!

Cardinal Families,

Whether your student completed their very first year of preschool, graduated from kindergarten, celebrated 8th grade promotion, or officially became a graduate and Lawson alum, this year has been filled with growth, memories, challenges, and accomplishments. We are grateful to have shared the journey with each of you.

Thank you for partnering with us throughout the year. Your support, patience, and perseverance through morning drop-offs, afternoon pick-ups, late nights, busy schedules, and meals on the run helped make this year successful for our students.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing, and memory-filled summer break. We’ll be here in the fall, recharged, refreshed, and ready to do it all again!

Lawson Board of Education Recognizes Robotics Program and FTC Teams for Outstanding Year

The Lawson Board of Education proudly recognized the Lawson Middle School and High School Robotics Department and First Tech Challenge (FTC) competitive robotics teams during the May Board of Education meeting for their outstanding accomplishments throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

The robotics program provides hands-on learning opportunities for students in grades 7-12 while exposing them to a variety of STEM-related fields, including 3D CAD design, engineering, coding, media design, fabrication, and manufacturing. Through participation in FTC competitive robotics, students gain valuable real-world experience while developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Throughout the season, students collaborated to design, build, program, and troubleshoot highly functional automated robotics systems. Team members participated in every stage of the engineering and manufacturing process, from designing components and fabricating parts to testing equipment and refining performance for competition.

In addition to technical knowledge, the program emphasizes leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Students develop lifelong skills by working together toward common goals while gaining experience in interviewing, presenting, and communicating during competitions and events.

During the school year, students also completed an entrepreneurship and design project in partnership with classroom teachers. Students identified classroom needs and designed custom solutions using 3D printing technology to improve classroom functionality and efficiency.

Both the middle school and high school robotics teams experienced an exceptionally successful competitive season, earning awards and recognition at multiple regional competitions. The Lawson High School team was also recognized as a finalist at the regional FTC competition held in Oklahoma in March.

The Lawson School District is proud to provide students with opportunities to engage in real-world learning experiences that foster innovation, creativity, collaboration, and career-ready skills that will benefit them long after graduation.

Lawson Board of Education Recognizes Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter

The Lawson Board of Education proudly recognized the Lawson Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter during the May Board of Education meeting for their outstanding accomplishments throughout the school year. Students were recognized for their success both in the classroom and through their participation in Career Development Events (CDEs) and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects.

Throughout the school year, students enrolled in the agriculture education program have explored a wide variety of career pathways and opportunities connected to the agriculture industry. Students have achieved tremendous success at the local, district, and state levels in Career Development Events, demonstrating their knowledge, leadership, and technical skills.
During the meeting, students shared their personal experiences and success stories with Board members, highlighting how participation in agricultural education and FFA is helping prepare them for future careers and continued personal growth. Students discussed the many opportunities available through the program, including leadership development, public speaking, career exploration, technical skill development, competitive events, and hands-on learning experiences directly connected to real-world agricultural careers.

Lawson’s Agriculture Education Program is built around the three-circle model of agricultural education, which combines classroom instruction, FFA involvement, and Supervised Agricultural Experience opportunities. Together, these components provide students with meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills, gain practical experience, and explore the many career fields connected to the agriculture industry.

The district is proud of the continued growth and success of the Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter, and is excited about the expanded opportunities available to students. These Real World Learning experiences are equipping students with skills and experiences that will benefit them long beyond their time in the Lawson School District and preparing them for future success in college, careers, and their communities.
