This week, we celebrated Laja’s Home Dedication for House 170, the 8th completed home in our Lilburn development! 🙌 With 518 volunteers giving 6,700+ hours, our neighbors have helped build hope and opportunity for families right here in Gwinnett County.

We’re so excited for Laja and her two children as they begin this next chapter! It has been a long road for Laja, and we are proud to celebrate with her. For years, she has worked toward homeownership by completing sweat equity hours, homeowner training courses, and maintaining steady work as a family empowerment advocate. We hope she and her family fill their new home with comfort, stability, and amazing memories for many years.

Many thank-yous to the GFWC Lilburn Woman's Club for beautifully staging House 170 for our very successful Home Tour this past weekend! 🙏 Your thoughtful interior decorating made every room feel welcoming and helped bring the story of "home" to life for everyone who walked through the door.

The home was staged with charming finds from our Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity ReStore, where every purchase supports affordable housing in our community.

We're grateful for your partnership and for the Lilburn Woman's Club's continued commitment to service through arts & culture, civic engagement, education, health & wellness, and more. Thank you for helping make this weekend such a success!

This week, our repair programs team completed our 750th WRAP project! Since 2022, Habitat has conducted plumbing and septic repairs for Gwinnett homeowners and saved millions of gallons of water from being wasted. Even the rain couldn't dampen the joy! 🌧️🏠

Today we celebrated the Home Dedication of House 169 in Lilburn with Josue, Grace, and their three children, and it was a moment years in the making.

"This will be a story of how we got our first home. We will make sure that the story is passed down to our next generation and the faithfulness of God."

A moving moment from the afternoon: our Construction Manager, Bill, presented the family with a hand-crafted, beautifully framed floor plan of their home, signed by the GWH staff. A piece of the build, signed with love, to hang in their home forever. The inscription reads:

"From the ground up, this structure was framed with lumber and set in concrete. Built by many volunteers and willing hands. But today, it becomes something greater: a home! A place where a family will laugh, gather, and create lasting memories. May love live within these walls, and may God's blessings rest here for years to come."

Huge thanks to our Build Sponsors Publix Super Markets Charities and the Gwinnett County Home and Affordable Housing Development Fund. And to former Board member Rev. Chris Hermansen, thank you for emceeing and keeping everyone smiling through the rain!

Last night, we gathered at Crooked Can Brewery in Snellville to celebrate the incredible people who make our mission possible. 🏠❤️

To our ReStore, Construction, Hospitality, Thursday Crew, ABWK Weekday Warriors, Homeowner Selection and Support Committees, and Board volunteers: thank you. You show up week after week and pour your hearts into building homes, communities, and hope.

This year, we were honored to recognize two outstanding volunteers:

After finding his water heater was flooding his property, Mr. Smith was told about the Water Resources Assistant Program (WRAP) from a friend that was previously served by Gwinnett Habitat. Not only did he not have hot water hours before a potential ice storm, he also had no water period due to this massive leak. Within 24 hours of receiving his WRAP application, our team of Habitat staff and subcontractors were able to spring into action to help with this urgent plumbing repair.

WRAP aims to assist homeowners in Gwinnett County with plumbing and septic repair needs. These acts of service also help homeowners afford to stay in their homes.

Today is another day to celebrate as we dedicate home 168 to Dennis, Abena, and Family! 🏡 With gifts of perseverance and community support, this wonderful family steps into a new chapter filled with opportunity.

100 incredible volunteers contributed 739 hours to help build this home. Every beam placed and window installed is proof of what we can accomplish when we come together to build!

Thank You to our inspiring build sponsors and partners and a special thanks to our sponsor in attendance who stocked the pantry, Grace- Snellville! Your dedication to strengthening our community is transformative!
