It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of the Honorable Judge Deborah R. Fluker.

Judge Fluker served with distinction as a Superior Court Judge in the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit, having been elected to the bench in 2020. Prior to her service on the Superior Court, she also served as a Magistrate Court Judge and as an Associate Judge for the Dacula Municipal Court, reflecting her longstanding commitment to the administration of justice and to the community.

Throughout her tenure, Judge Fluker was known for her dedication to fairness, her thoughtful approach to the law, and her unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity of the judicial system. She carried out her duties with professionalism and a deep sense of responsibility to the citizens she served.

On behalf of the Superior Court bench, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

GWINNETT COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT UPDATE FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2026

Gwinnett County Public Schools have declared a Digital Learning Day for tomorrow.

AS A RESULT, ALL HEARINGS AND TRIALS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2026 ARE CANCELED.

Please note that GJAC, NASH, and the Annex Buildings will remain open for business during normal operating hours.

If you have questions regarding your case or scheduling, you may contact your Judge’s office tomorrow during normal business hours for additional guidance.

Please be aware of the following service and facility changes resulting from the Ice Storm Warning impacting Gwinnett County:

Gwinnett County Courts
• Trials and hearings are canceled Monday, January 26.

Ride Gwinnett service operations
• Ride Gwinnett will not operate local, microtransit, or paratransit service on Saturday, January 24.

Park and Community Services facilities and events
• All Parks and Recreation and Community Services facilities, with the exception of those serving as warming stations, will close at 3:00pm tomorrow. This includes the Gwinnett Animal Shelter.
• Shorty’s 40th Birthday event at Shorty Howell Park originally scheduled for January 24 has been moved to February 21. Astro Adventure Night scheduled for January 24 at Rhodes Jordan Park is canceled.

UPDATED January 25 at 7:23pm:

All Gwinnett County Government offices — with the exception of those required for the comfort and safety of residents — will be closed Monday, January 26.

Along with the County office closures, please be aware of these updates about County operations during the storm:

Trash and Recycling
Due to the inclement weather, there will not be any trash and recycling services on Monday, January 26 for residents in unincorporated Gwinnett. All services will be delayed by one day. We will continue to share any updates from our haulers as they become available.

Warming Stations
Our six warming and charging stations across the county are open for residents who need shelter during this dangerous weather event. The stations will remain open until Tuesday at 9:30am. As of this morning, 68 people were using the stations.

Courts
Gwinnett County Courts will be closed Monday, January 26. All court hearings and trials are canceled. The courthouse will be closed for court business, including courts located in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, the Nash Court Building, the Recorder’s Court and Juvenile Court Building, as well as the Clerk of Court and Probate Court. No court services will be available.

Tax Commissioner’s offices
All Tax Commissioner offices, including all DMV offices, will be closed Monday, January 26. Online services will remain accessible during the closure.

Ride Gwinnett
Ride Gwinnett is not operating local, microtransit, or paratransit service on Monday, January 26.

Senior Services
The Lawrenceville Senior Center, Centerville Senior Center, Norcross Senior Center, and Buford Senior Center will be closed for senior programming Monday, January 26. Facilities associated with warming stations will remain active for that purpose.

Gwinnett Transportation continues to respond with salt, sand, and plows, and Gwinnett County Police and Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services are active across the county. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads.
