The Gwinnett County Juvenile Court family mourns the tragic loss of GCPD Ofc. Pradeep Tamang who was tragically killed in the line of duty this morning. We are heartbroken by this profound loss and honor a life of service, courage, and sacrifice.

We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Ofc. Tamang’s family, loved ones, and colleagues during this unimaginably difficult time. We also continue to hold the second officer, Ofc. David Reed—who remains in critical condition—in our thoughts and prayers, with hope for healing and strength for their family and fellow officers.

We stand with the Gwinnett County Police Department and our entire community in grief, gratitude, and support. 💙🖤

Gwinnett County Juvenile Court is excited to share some big leadership updates:

Judge Nhan-Ai Du has been appointed as the new Chief Juvenile Court Judge, following the well-earned retirement of Judge Robert Waller. Judge Du brings a bold vision, deep compassion, and tireless dedication to improving outcomes for youth and families in our community. We thank Judge Waller for his years of impactful service and leadership.

The Gwinnett Superior Court Judges have also appointed Judge Wesley Person as the newest member of the Juvenile Court bench! Judge Person brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to justice, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.

And to top it off — Chief Judge Du has also been appointed to the Board of Directors for the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), one of the nation’s leading organizations for improving juvenile and family court systems.

With these exciting developments, our court is ready to continue pushing boundaries and making bold strides. Chief Judge Du is committed to putting Gwinnett County and the State of Georgia on the national map for juvenile justice innovation and excellence!

Gwinnett Juvenile Court Appointment

The Superior Court of Gwinnett County is pleased to announce the appointment of Judge Wesley Person to the Juvenile Court bench, following interviews with multiple highly qualified candidates.

Judge Person has served as a Judge in Gwinnett Recorder’s Court since 2020. He also serves as an Associate Juvenile Court Judge, where he has presided over Behavioral Health Court since 2021.

A valued and longstanding member of the Gwinnett legal community, Judge Person practiced law for over a decade as Managing Partner of Person Law Firm and began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Griffin Judicial Circuit.

Judge Person will succeed the Honorable Robert Waller, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to the youth and families of Gwinnett County.
