Today is the first day of early voting, and I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the last 6 1/2 years as your Jailer.
In 2019, when I won the special election for Jailer, many people wondered if this young girl could handle the job. Just three months after taking office, COVID hit — something no jailer had ever dealt with before.
Over the last 6 1/2 years, I’ve put in the work every single day. I’ve transported countless inmates to jails, courts, doctor appointments, and hospitals — including long overnight hospital stays. I’ve worked to improve contracts that save taxpayer money while also improving safety for our deputies. I’ve also brought reimbursement money back from the state to help support our budget. Even with rising costs, I’ve kept the jail budget lower than when I first took office.
This job is truly a 24/7 responsibility, and I’ve always done my best to answer every call, question, and situation — day or night.
I became more involved statewide by joining the Kentucky Jailers Association Board in 2020, and I’m proud to still serve as a board member today.
This job has never been about recognition for me. It’s about showing up, working hard, and serving Anderson County the best way I know how. 6 1/2 years later, I’m still here, still working, and still committed to this community.
I would truly appreciate your vote and support. Please Re-Elect Tasha Hellard for Jailer on or before May 19th.
