About 2.7 million dogs are put down in U.S. Veterans now commit suicide at the rate of 1 every 59 minutes. Veterans who are in need
of a service dog. Over 1.5 million. This program is designed to completely eliminate the cost & waiting list for our veterans in need of a service dog and also greatly help with the shelters overpopulation problem. We provide disabled veterans & veteran’s family members with service dogs. Program dogs are from local shelters, fully vetted, spayed & neutered & pass evaluation. To meet the dire needs of veterans and shelter dogs, WDFV has designed an innovative training model that trains people and dogs alike. They utilize three programs all under the umbrella of WDFV; Prison Program (where inmates train service dogs), In-House (where certified trainers volunteer to train service dogs in their home), and Owner-Trained (where veterans can train their own dog and are mentored by certified trainers. With the No Veteran Left behind Program, We train program dogs in-house for veterans who are unable to participate in the training themselves. Veterans who are able to help train their own service dog are now teamed up with a local member of Law Enforcement, military, active military, or reserves throughout the U.S. Most are experienced dog trainers/handlers helping with dog selection, evaluations, training, from start to finish. We provide volunteers & veterans with id badges, certificates, certification, A.D.A. laws & info & video on dog training to teach the tasks for a dog to be a service dog. Some tasks include medication alert, blocking someone from approaching too fast, & removing veterans from stressful situations. In return we ask after their dog has completed the program, they help another team. This results in local groups meeting at a local park helping each other in training their service dogs. And that is where the real medicine is, veterans helping veterans. There for No Veteran is left behind. At this growth rate, we hope to have trainers at every military base and in every city throughout the country within 3-5 years. Thank you for your support! More info at:
