FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Last night, May 25, 2026, the Ovilla Volunteer Fire Department (Station 9) responded to a reported structure fire at 2381 Lawrenceburg Highway, the location of the old E&E Food & Spirits building. The call was received at approximately 9:30 PM, with crews remaining on scene until around 2:30 AM working to contain and extinguish the fire.

Thanks to the hard work and coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, the fire was contained primarily to the upper floor of the structure with only minimal extension into the lower floor.

Ovilla Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all assisting departments and agencies, including Station 7, Station 1, Henryville Fire Department, West End Fire Department, and Box 50 from Lawrence County for their assistance and support throughout the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

We greatly appreciate the teamwork, dedication, and long hours put in by every responder involved to help protect our community.

If anyone has any information in regards to this incident please reach out to us.

🚒🐟 TODAY’S THE DAY! 🐟🚒

Join the Ovilla Fire Department today from **4:00 PM – 7:00 PM** for our **SWAMP JOHNS Fish Fry Fundraiser!** Come enjoy a great meal while supporting your local firefighters and the department’s ongoing needs.

📍 Plates are now **$16 each**

We also want to let everyone know about a change this year. Unfortunately, the caterer has increased their prices and has also discontinued providing the sweet tea that was previously included with meals. These decisions were made by the caterer and are completely out of our hands.

That said, we know how much everyone enjoys the sweet tea, and we are doing our best to make accommodations to provide tea ourselves while supplies last. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support as we work through these changes. We will have plenty of cold bottled water and lemonade as well.

Thank you for always supporting the Ovilla Fire Department and our community. We hope to see you there tonight! 🚒❤️

With the threat of inclimate weather and a lot of trees already being weak from Freezepocalypse 2026, we are going to be available to remove trees from roadways and driveways. Sadly we aren't a clearing service and can't remove them from your yard, but we definitely can help clear a way for emergency services! Shoot us a message if needed. Be safe and God Bless!

~Asst. Chief Jerry King

We will be working on clearing more roads tomorrow, we've cleared some but it's going to take a while so please bear with us we have very few firefighters and luckily some people in the community have grabbed their saws to join in. State Forestry is sending saw teams to Wayne County to help with clearing trees all over the county so it should pick up a bit more. If you see a Silver Toyota Tacoma drive past your house with the hazard lights on and the road was been blocked before then that means we've cut a way for you to get to the highway. The Natchez Trace Parkway is CLOSED until further notice so please do not attempt to drive on it. Also if you plan to cut any trees on your own please DO NOT cut them if they are touching power lines or are close to power lines, even if they're down they could still be live. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PASS US IF WE ARE CUTTING TREES OUT OF THE ROAD THERE MAY BE MORE AHEAD OF US THAT YOU COULD HIT.

Thank you Ovilla Volunteer Fire Department for supporting us.
