Hey Jayhawks,
National Safety Month is observed every June to raise awareness about the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths at work, on the road, and at home.

Identifying risks around the home or improving safety standards at home and in your community or workplace protects everyone. Whether we increase first aid and emergency awareness through drills, or provide water safety tips for summer recreation, we're taking steps to provide a safer neighborhood.

-Report repairs as needed
-Hold drills at home and work for disasters like severe weather and tornados
-Put together a First aid kit
-Take a CPR class
-Take a defensive driving course
-Avoid fatigued or distracted driving

What do the interns do at the University of Kansas Police Department?

Meet Ellie and Nicole, two KU students who have been interning with KUPD.

These two have been working with Detectives Hodge and Freeman to organize and clean our property room. Many items come into the possession of this police department. Laptops, singular air pods, bicycles, foreign currency, you name it. The organization, tracking, and disposition of these items can be a time-consuming process.

Internships provide students with the opportunity to experience different aspects of working at a law enforcement agency and give our officers another way to connect with the community.

Thank you to Ellie and Nicole for their hard work.

As we head into this weekend with KU hosting the NCAA Super Regional for Kansas Vs. Oklahoma Saturday and Sunday at 5PM we ask that all fans help keep the ballpark safe, family-friendly, and enjoyable for all.

Please remember:
âś… Treat fellow fans with respect, even if they support the opposing team.
âś… Cheer passionately, but keep interactions positive.
❌ Do not throw objects onto the field, into the stands, or at other spectators.
❌ Do not use profanity or abusive language.
❌ Do not engage in confrontational or disruptive behavior.

Good sportsmanship is part of what makes baseball great. Let's work together to create a fun and welcoming environment for fans of all ages.

Enjoy the game, look out for one another, and help us keep the focus where it belongs—on the action on the field. Our Officers as well as event staff will be around and inside the stadium if you need assistance.

KUPD Officers worked diligently over the weekend to keep Kansas Baseball Hoglund Field secure and ready for the Lawrence Regional. Some officers even worked 30+ hours of overtime to help ensure this event was safe, successful, and enjoyable for players, coaches, staff, and fans alike.

Their commitment behind the scenes often goes unnoticed, but their dedication to public safety plays a critical role in making events like this possible. We are proud of the professionalism, teamwork, and service our officers demonstrated throughout the weekend.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped create a safe and welcoming environment. Thankful for a Jayhawk win!
