Our eggs began hatching Tuesday and we now have 37 (yes, 37!) chicks! Students are now learning how to care for young chicks such as different types of feed to choose from and keeping the chicks warm. All classes at LES will have the opportunity to visit and learn about raising chicks.

I candled most of our eggs late last night (so it was dark). I found a few that are maybe not going to develop. This happens with incubation. I was able to capture a cool video that shows movement if you watch carefully. Next week I will have a real candling light (the flashlight works, but not the best). So, on Tuesday, students will see egg candling again along with learning some information about what to look for when candling eggs. Egg candling is a skill that is learned over time with practice.
