Last month, we kicked off our Meet Our Team campaign by introducing you to members of our Teaching & Learning Department—and one team member is Rebecca Marsh, our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Bus Coordinator, better known as “Mrs. Frizzle.”

Now, we’re taking you inside one of the exciting learning experiences she brings directly to our schools!

Laurens Middle School students in Mr. Christopher Rambert’s 7th Grade class recently participated in a hands-on STEM Coding Robot Lab with Mrs. Marsh. Students explored coding, robotics, problem-solving, computational thinking, and engineering design as they worked together to program robots to complete challenges.

The best part? They learned that when a robot doesn’t do exactly what you expect, you don’t give up—you think critically, troubleshoot, communicate, and try again!

These experiences are what Building a 5-Star District of Excellence looks like in action: dedicated educators creating opportunities for students to explore, innovate, collaborate, and prepare for the future.

Thank you, Mrs. Marsh, for bringing STEM to life for our students—and thank you to Mr. Rambert and his students for putting their STEM skills into action!

Take a look at the photos from this exciting learning experience at Laurens Middle School.

Labor Day is more than a long weekend—it is a time to recognize the people whose hard work, dedication, and contributions help move our communities forward.

As a gentle reminder, Laurens County School District 55 will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

As you enjoy the holiday, take a moment to reflect on the value of work, the people who serve others each day, and the many contributions that make our community stronger.

To our students, staff, families, and community: we hope you have a safe and meaningful Labor Day.

We’ll see you back at school on Tuesday, September 8, as we continue Building a 5-Star District of Excellence.

Mention Our Mission!

We’re proud to feature Jaya Thumati, our 2026–2027 Laurens County School District 55 Teacher of the Year, as she participates in our Mention Our Mission Campaign!

Jaya doesn’t just speak our mission—she lives it. Her leadership is reflected in her commitment to always giving her best, pursuing professional growth, and serving her students, families, and colleagues with excellence.

That’s what Building a 5-Star District of Excellence looks like: educators who lead by example, continue to grow, and put students at the heart of everything they do.

Now it’s YOUR turn to Mention Our Mission!

Students, families, staff, and community members—we want to hear from you! Record a short clip saying our mission:

“Laurens County School District 55, Building a 5-Star District of Excellence.”

Then send your clip to LCSD 55 Coordinator of Communications Faye Colley at 864-684-2886 or [email protected].

Let’s keep sharing our mission, living our mission, and Building a 5-Star District of Excellence—together!

ClassDojo Bus Delay Alert Pilot

The Laurens County School District 55 Communications Department is constantly working on improving communications between our schools and families. This year, we launched the ClassDojo platform to help strengthen teacher-parent/guardian communications. It also aims to provide a more secure platform for classroom celebrations in the form of stories, specifically targeted for the parents and guardians of each class.

The Communications Department is hoping to maximize ClassDojo to have bus-specific alerts targeted to parents/guardians of bus riders whose buses may be experiencing delays. The process to set up may take some time, and we are asking for participation from those interested in piloting this new project.

If you are interested, please complete the ClassDojo Bus Delay Alert Pilot Signup Form by September 21, 2026. It should take five minutes or less to complete. For families with multiple children, please complete this form for each child.

For questions about completing the form, please contact Faye Colley, LCSD 55 Coordinator of Communications, at [email protected].

Photos from the September 3 Touchdown Club Luncheon!

The Touchdown Club Luncheon is a special event that brings together athletes and coaches from Laurens Academy, Thornwell Charter School, Clinton High School, Laurens District 55 High School, and Presbyterian College—all in one room to celebrate athletics, teamwork, and community.

We were honored to have Presbyterian College Head Football, Matt Rahl as our guest speaker. Coach Rahl shared with the group and helped make this a meaningful event for our student-athletes and coaches.

Congratulations to Logan Bragg of Laurens District 55 High School, who was selected as the Touchdown Club Player of the Week for August 21!

Congratulations also to Angelo Cromer of Clinton High School, who was selected as the Player of the Week for August 28!

We would like to thank the Touchdown Club Committee, sponsors, coaches, athletes, and everyone who attended and helped make this event special. Your continued support provides an opportunity for our athletes to be recognized, encouraged, and celebrated by the community.

Thank you for supporting our student-athletes and bringing our local athletic community together!

Our 2025–2026 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is ready to Mention Our Mission!

These outstanding student leaders served as the voice of their peers throughout the 2025–2026 school year, sharing ideas, perspectives and feedback to help make Laurens County School District 55 stronger.

Now, they’re helping us continue our Mention Our Mission Campaign by sharing what our mission means to them: Laurens County School District 55, Building a 5-Star District of Excellence.

We are proud of these students for stepping up, speaking out and demonstrating leadership. Their voices matter, and their commitment to making a difference in our schools and community is exactly what building a 5-Star District of Excellence is all about.

Want to Mention Our Mission? Send your video clip to LCSD 55 Coordinator of Communications Faye Colley at 864-684-2886.

Let’s keep the mission moving forward!
