Celebrated the life of Charlie Kirk last night on his 32nd birthday. Several local universities now have Turning Point USA chapters. I want to remind everyone that politically motivated acts of violence have no place in America on either side of the aisle.

We are currently the only state that does not have a state budget and Rep. Pashinski is worried about diapers. He should be concerned that we are now over 3 months without a budget which is causing cuts to education, health and human service programs, foster care agencies, nonprofit originations, and other critical care services.

WILKES-BARRE — State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski on Tuesday said diaper need is often a hidden crisis that affects many families in the U.S. — forcing parents to make difficult choices between buying diapers and paying for food or rent.

My Letter to the Editor in the Citizens’ Voice:

Editor: “E Pluribus Unum,” Out of Many, One. It certainly does not feel like we are one. I am deeply concerned with where we are going as a nation after the events that have been taking place over the last several months. Politically motivated acts of violence have no place in America on either side of the aisle. It is very troubling to see the disregard for human life.

We are a nation founded on the “American Dream.” When I see all this violence happening I think of my ancestors who came to America so they can have a better life for their family. I think of my great grandfather who immigrated here from Poland so I can have a better life; I think of my grandfather who fought in World War II and Korea so I can be free and have a better life. I think to myself, if they were here today, what would they have to say about the civil war our country seems to be in?

We are the nation that was first in flight aviation, the nation that put men on the moon, the nation that came together after the horrible terrorist attacks that took the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001. We need to be that nation and once again put our political differences aside and be human.

I saw the Wilkes-Barre Twp. Police Department posted on their page “Life Tip: You can disagree with someone without needing to kill them.”

It was Martin Luther King Jr. who told us “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

I am very concerned for the future of our country. We need to do better and it needs to start now.

Happy I was able to attend and be a voice for our neighborhood. I will always stand up for our community. We ask Wilkes-Barre City Council to vote no tomorrow on this liquor license transfer.

WILKES-BARRE — Roughly 25 concerned citizens attended a liquor licence transfer hearing Tuesday to protest the sale of alcoholic beverages at a proposed convenience store in the Parsons neighborhood of Wilkes-Barre.
