This marks a significant change for a state that was long considered a swing state, where Democrats once held a sizable registration advantage—often by tens of thousands in the early 2020s.
Republican registrations now hold a very slim lead over Democrats. The shift began in late 2025, marking the first Republican advantage since 2007, and has continued into 2026. However, the margin remains tight and fluctuates monthly due to voter roll updates, relocations, and new registrations.
Over the past year, both major parties have experienced net losses as many voters move toward nonpartisan or independent affiliation. In fact, nonpartisan voters now make up the largest share—typically around 37–45% depending on how totals are measured—and in some cases outnumber both major parties combined.
It’s important to note that voter registration trends don’t necessarily determine election outcomes, as turnout, independent voters, and other factors play a major role.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo has proclaimed today “Ronald Reagan Day,” honoring the former president’s rise from entertainer to union leader, California governor, and U.S. president.

Lombardo noted Reagan’s historic 1984 landslide victory, winning 49 of 50 states — a record unmatched in presidential elections.

Reagan had long ties to Las Vegas and Nevada, first visiting in the 1950s as a nightclub headliner at venues such as the Frontier. The state strongly backed him in 1980 and 1984, and he returned often as president for rallies and fundraisers, including events for Sen. Paul Laxalt.

Known for blending policy with showmanship, Reagan joked about “playing Las Vegas” and maintained close relationships with entertainers like Wayne Newton, reinforcing his lasting popularity in Nevada.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Reagan!

From the Clark County Republican Party: A Precinct Primer

What exactly is a precinct? In Clark County, Nevada, precincts are defined geographic areas where voters live and are assigned to vote in local, state, and federal elections. Each Senate and Assembly District contains dozens of precincts. When people talk about grassroots politics—this is where it begins.

As we head toward the November midterm elections, CCRP is organizing a countywide, precinct-based effort to motivate and engage Republican voters. Kicking this off, we’ll hold our first Precinct Meeting of the year on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at our headquarters: 333 N. Rancho Dr., Suite 660, Las Vegas.

We invite you to join us and learn everything you need to know about precincts—from how they function to how to become a precinct captain. We’ll also discuss the important role precinct members play in shaping the 2026 Clark County Republican Party Platform.
There’s no registration fee, and the meeting is open to all Clark County Republicans. Please scroll down, click on the Precinct Meeting flyer, and RSVP.

Let’s come together to move Clark County in the right direction.
