This fall, Pennsylvania Healthy Lands Week is putting the spotlight on Bedford County—one of the six counties of the Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor.

From September 26 through October 4, volunteers will have opportunities to care for the parks, forests, trails, waterways, and historic places that make this part of Pennsylvania so special. Projects planned throughout the week include trail maintenance, tree planting, invasive-species removal, fish-habitat restoration, and conservation work at historic sites.

Activities will take place at Shawnee State Park, Buchanan State Forest, Warriors Path State Park, and other locations across Bedford County. Whether you are ready to roll up your sleeves or simply want to learn more about caring for Pennsylvania’s public lands, Healthy Lands Week offers a meaningful way to get involved.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

On September 11, 2001, the story of the Lincoln Highway became forever connected to the quiet landscape of Somerset County. Just beyond historic Route 30, the 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93 took action that prevented the aircraft from reaching the U.S. Capitol.

Today, the Tower of Voices rises near the entrance to Flight 93 National Memorial, visible from the Lincoln Highway. Its 40 wind chimes—each with a distinct voice—stand as a living memorial to the passengers and crew.

On this solemn anniversary, we remember them, all those whose lives were lost in New York and at the Pentagon, the first responders, and the families who have carried their absence for 25 years.

May we continue to remember their names, their courage, and the lives they lived.

Sometimes a piece of Lincoln Highway history finds its way to us unexpectedly.

A recent visitor to our website introduced us to “Looking for the Lincoln Highway” by singer-songwriter Christopher C. Kennedy—a song that captures the pull of two-lane roads, small towns, and the search for something often missed at interstate speed.

Released on Kennedy’s 2010 album Postcards from Main Street, the song was later featured in the 2014 Wyoming PBS documentary 100 Years on the Lincoln Highway.

One last look back at a day when the Lincoln Highway Experience grounds were filled with polished chrome, colorful classics, powerful engines, live music, good food, and plenty of people who simply love a great car.

Our 5th Annual Car Cruise brought together vehicles from across the decades—and an even better community of owners, spectators, vendors, musicians, volunteers, and supporters who made the day possible.

Thank you for cruising in, spending the afternoon with us, and helping make our fifth year one to remember. Until the next cruise…we’ll see you down the Lincoln Highway. 🚘

Art, history, and the Lincoln Highway come together this September! 🎨

We’re excited to partner with the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art as the setting for the Quick Draw Competition opening its 2026 Plein Air Art Festival.

On Wednesday, September 23, participating artists will have just two hours to capture a scene from the Lincoln Highway Experience—inside the museum or across our historic grounds. We can’t wait to see our roadside history interpreted through their eyes!

🕛 Artist check-in: 12 p.m.
🎨 Quick Draw: 1–3 p.m.
🏆 Judging and cash prizes: 3:30 p.m.

Registration for the Quick Draw is FREE, but artists must register by September 21. The celebration continues throughout the Ligonier Valley with the Paint Out September 24–26 and the Plein Air Art Festival and Wet Sale on September 27.

This Labor Day weekend, skip the Turnpike and make the road part of the destination. 🚙

Follow the Lincoln Highway past country stores, vintage motor courts, roadside landmarks, scenic views, and plenty of places that invite you to slow down and stay awhile.

This stretch of road passes Duppstadt’s Country Store, a Lincoln Highway Partner Map stop in Somerset County, while other discoveries—like the historic Lincoln Motor Court in Bedford County—are waiting just a little farther along the route. Begin your adventure at the Lincoln Highway Experience in Latrobe, where you can explore the story of America’s first coast-to-coast highway, slide onto a stool inside the restored Serro’s Diner, and pick up a Partner Map for the journey ahead.

The Lincoln Highway Experience will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM–4 PM and closed Monday for Labor Day.

Wherever the long weekend takes you, take the scenic route—and enjoy everything you might have missed from the Turnpike.

A piece of Lincoln Highway history in Gettysburg is getting a new chapter—and the community is invited to help shape it!

We’re proud to partner with the Adams County Arts Council and muralist Ophelia Chambliss to redesign and restore this mural at 2 Springs Avenue.

Join us Wednesday, September 10, at 2 p.m. at the Arts Education Center to share your feedback on the proposed design and colors. The workshop is free and open to the public.

We’re excited to see this Lincoln Highway landmark refreshedr for a new generation of residents and travelers!
