The Lathrup Village Police Department will be assisting with a 5k this coming Saturday, 8/29/2026 from 9a to 12p. Michigan First Credit Union is hosting the event and partnering with the Don't Engage in Road Rage organization. The route map is also attached. The route takes the participants along Evergreen Rd to Twelve Mile, then back south through the neighborhood. Participants are expected to stay off the main roads for their safety. Please expect heavier than usual pedestrian traffic in the neighborhood, so please be patient. There will be volunteers along the route cheering people on and making sure they're on the correct path. Along with LVPD, the Michigan State Police and Southfield Fire will also be present. Come join the fun! The registration link is below.

The Lathrup Village Police Department, along with Chase Bank, are hosting a Fraud Awareness Workshop. The event is on September 22, 2026 from 5:30p-7:00p here at city hall! The event is free to attend. Please come and learn about all the latest trends in fraud.

There is a tiny brown dog with no collar running around the rear of the Department. Last seen slipping through fences (yes it’s that small) in the area of Lathrup Blvd and Sunset Blvd E. He’s an elusive little guy 🐶

The Don't Engage in Road Rage 5k is coming on August 29th between 9am and 12pm. The 5k will kick off from Michigan First Credit Union. The route will take them north to Twelve Mile, then east to Bloomfield Dr. From there, the route will meander in the neighborhood and eventually back to Michigan First. As we celebrate our Nation's 250th birthday, we wanted to remind residents of the laws regarding fireworks. In the photo below are the permissible dates and times to enjoy fireworks in the city this week. Please use care and caution when lighting fireworks and have a safe weekend!

The Lathrup Village Police Department and Mayor Kantor had the privilege of attending the Southfield / Lathrup Village Optimist Club’s meeting yesterday where we heard from fifth graders about how important first responders are and which profession they would choose. Their speeches were amazing. Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren, Fire Chief Thornington, Southfield Mayor Siver and several Southfield Public School staff were also in attendance. We appreciate the partnership with everyone.
