Exciting News for Lathrop and the Region!

On June 5, we joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the Vierra Reinforcement Project—a significant infrastructure investment that strengthens our regional electric grid and supports continued growth in Lathrop, Manteca, and throughout San Joaquin County.

This project expanded the existing Vierra Substation by 3.5 acres and added a new powerline connecting it to the broader system. This work is an important step toward ensuring our community has the dependable energy capacity needed for future development.

Key Benefits to Our Community:
• Strengthens the electric system to meet rising energy demand
• Increases grid flexibility and reduces strain during peak usage
• Enhances service reliability and helps prevent power outages
• Supports more than 120,000 homes and businesses across the region
• Provides the dependable power needed for job growth, commercial projects, and new investments

With construction now complete, this project represents PG&E’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable service and reflects a strong collaboration between utility partners and local government that helps keep Lathrop moving forward.
