🗓️ From intake to release, the Las Vegas Detention Center plays a vital role in public safety, accountability and rehabilitation within our community.

Located at 3200 Stewart Avenue, the facility serves as the booking and housing center for individuals arrested on misdemeanor offenses within city limits. Every person entrusted to our care is treated with dignity and respect by a dedicated team of more than 200 professionals, including corrections officers, law enforcement support technicians and facilities personnel.

Beyond secure detention, the facility is committed to supporting the successful reentry of individuals through various programs:

-Employment and workforce readiness training
-Emotional wellness and life-skills classes
-Substance use disorder programming
-Resource and support service seminars
-Educational and learning workshops
-Reentry-focused services and support

What an incredible First Responder Appreciation Night! We were honored to celebrate alongside our Department of Public Safety retirees- those who helped build the foundation of service, professionalism and dedication that continues today.

It was a special evening filled with great memories for the men and women who have devoted their careers to serving our community. Thank you to our retirees for your years of commitment and the lasting impact you’ve made on our department and the city of Las Vegas.

Throughout the month of May, and especially today on Memorial Day, members of the DPS Honor Guard have had the privilege of representing our agency at events dedicated to honoring fallen law enforcement officers and remembering all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. 🖤💙

From standing alongside agencies across the country to supporting our local law enforcement partners here in Nevada, these moments remind us of the importance of service, sacrifice and never forgetting those who came before us.

We honor their legacy today and every day.

Yesterday, DPS joined community volunteers at Police Memorial Park for the annual Memorial Day flag planting ceremony with Ward 4.

Together, more than 6,000 flags were carefully placed across the “Freedom Field” to honor the brave fallen troops, first responders and police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our communities and our country.

This powerful tradition serves as a reminder that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thank you to everyone who came together to help create this meaningful tribute ahead of Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

We’re sad to see our final Catch with a Cop with Youth Development Social Initiatives at Hancock Elementary come to an end this school year ⚾️💙

From laughs on the field to unforgettable memories with the students, this season was truly a home run. While we may be rounding third and heading home for summer, we’re already excited to step back up to the plate when school starts again this fall! 🍂⚾️

Thank you to everyone who helped make this program such a grand slam — we can’t wait for next season!
