“I think it will be a great model for the rest of the country."

This week, Acting U.S. Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling visited the EmployNV Business Hub located inside the Vegas Chamber, the first American Job Center in the nation at a chamber of commerce. Embedding workforce staff at the chamber makes it more convenient for employers to access the no-cost resources available through the public workforce system, like talent recruitment, on-the-job training and more.

We are proud of the innovative partnerships in Southern Nevada that are helping employers connect to a ready workforce.

Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling was in town yesterday to see firsthand how Southern Nevada is successfully bringing together employers, educators, government leaders and community partners to prepare workers for careers in growing industries and help businesses grow.

During the visit, he highlighted key partnerships, including:

➡ The first employer-focused American Job Center in the nation to be hosted inside a chamber of commerce. The EmployNV Business Hub located inside the Vegas Chamber connects businesses with no-cost resources available through the public workforce development system.

➡ The Debra March Center for Excellence, a centralized training hub preparing workers for high-skilled careers in advanced manufacturing. Located across the street from the future Haas Automation, Inc. manufacturing facility that is under construction, the center is a partnership between the College of Southern Nevada and the City of Henderson Government

The visit also included multiple roundtable discussions with business, K-12 and higher-education, government, workforce and economic-development leaders.

Thank you to all who participated!

And THANK YOU to Acting Secretary Sonderling for spending the afternoon with us to learn how our region is connecting employers to a ready workforce.

📆 September is Workforce Development Month!

This month we recognize workforce development professionals and raise awareness of the impact workforce development has on individuals, businesses, communities, and the U.S. economy.

Every day, workforce professionals help people develop skills, overcome barriers, connect to careers, and advance economically. At the same time, they help businesses find and develop talent, build stronger talent pipelines, and respond to changing workforce needs.

Workforce Development Month provides an opportunity to bring greater visibility to this work and demonstrate why a strong workforce development system matters.
