The San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office is proud to support the Special Olympic athletes of New Mexico. Today, members of law enforcement participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run in honor of the 2026 Special Olympics State Summer Games.

The San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and San Miguel County Fire Department proudly served as “Guardians of the Flame,” biking 64 miles from Las Vegas to Santa Fe before joining the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office in running the torch 4 miles into the historic Santa Fe Plaza.

Two torches made their way into the Plaza today, with one proudly carried by the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office alongside the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

We would like to wish all athletes participating in the 2026 Special Olympics State Summer Games in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the very best of luck. We also want to recognize our very own Las Vegas Roadrunners - SONM. Your hard work, dedication, and determination continue to inspire us all.
