Kelcey West's HBCU Tour for the 26-27 school year is just a few days from the start of General Registration for the 30th Annual Unity Through Knowledge HBCU Tour. Every year it is sold out with CCSD students & please remember that they are planning for another sold-out experience for high students (Grades 9-12). Congratulations 8th Graders! Your next stop is 9th grade and a brand new adventure filled with opportunities, growth, and unforgettable memories. Many of our 8th grade students came to NVLA to celebrate this special milestone with their families, and it was truly a wonderful time filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement for the future. NVLA Senior Graduation is NEXT TUESDAY, May 26th!! Let us take a moment to acknowledge one of our very best who has been recognized by CCSD as a Star Graduate for the class of 2026.

Daniel Barajas Marquez embodies the "Star Graduate" through his unparalleled leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to service. While maintaining a near-perfect GPA in a rigorous online environment, Daniel served as Senior Class President, Student Council President, and Nevada Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) President simultaneously. His influence extended beyond campus to the State Student Advisory Council, where he collaborated with the State Superintendent to address real-world educational challenges.

What truly distinguishes Daniel, however, is his heart for others. Despite his demanding schedule, he dedicated his time to mentoring youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada. As the previous President of the Nevada Learning Academy National Honor Society and current Vice President, he supported his community with 899 service hours over a three-year span. Simply amazing. Daniel isn't just a student leader; he is a community builder who uses his talents to lift others up. His unique blend of intellectual curiosity, integrity, and selflessness makes him the ideal representative for Nevada Learning Academy at CCSD. He leaves an indelible mark as the true heart of his graduating class.
