La Casa Inc.

La Casa Inc. La Casa, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. We believe domestic violence and abuse can be overcome.

We envision a community knowledgeable about domestic violence and abuse and fully engaged and committed to its eradication. We believe that dignity, social justice, safety, freedom from abuse and the pursuit of happiness are basic human rights for all, rights that can only be realized with the active engagement of the entire community. In all our endeavors we affirm these rights without regard to race, creed, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or any other differentiating factors. We actively oppose all forms of violence and abuse including physical, psychological, emotional, verbal, sexual and economic.

Our annual Las Cruces Candlelight Vigil is just around the corner, and we strongly encourage everyone in our community to attend.

When domestic violence touches families across our region, standing in silence is not an option. Gathering together as neighbors, friends, and leaders sends an unmistakable message to every survivor in DoΓ±a Ana County: you are seen, you are believed, and you are never alone.

This powerful evening will feature words of advocacy and commitment from local representatives, as well as courageous stories shared by survivors themselves. Hearing directly from survivor voices illuminates the reality of the journey, honors those we have tragically lost, and highlights the incredible strength it takes to heal and thrive.

Whether you are standing in support of a loved one, honoring a memory, or showing up as a dedicated community ally, your presence fills the room with hope. Bring your family, invite a friend, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us.

Everyone Deserves a Healthy Relationship πŸ’œ

Respect, open communication, safety, and trust belong in every relationship. No matter who you are, where you live, or what your story is: you deserve to feel safe, valued, and respected by your partner.

Relationships should build us up, not bring us down. If you ever feel controlled, isolated, afraid, or unsafe, please know that you do not have to navigate it alone. Supportive, compassionate, and confidential help is always available.

To help spread this message across our community during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we created a printable Hotline Tear-Off Poster! πŸ“„βœ‚οΈ

How You Can Help Spread Hope & Resources:
Download & Print: Save and print our tear-off flyer at home, in your office, or at school.
Post It Up: Hang it on community bulletin boards, breakroom walls, local businesses, restrooms, campuses, or faith centers.

A simple piece of paper can save a life. By posting this flyer in your workplace or neighborhood, you are opening a door for someone who might be searching for a way forward.

Together, we can ensure every individual in our region knows where to turn. 🀝

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month πŸ’œ

Every October, communities nationwide come together for Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) to honor survivors, remember those we have lost, and reaffirm our commitment to creating a future free from abuse.

Domestic violence touches families across every neighborhood, but strength and healing grow when a community stands together. At La Casa, Inc., we provide a safe haven, compassionate care, and vital resources to thousands of individuals and families across southern New Mexico every single year.

Here is how you can join us in taking action this month:

πŸ’œ Wear Purple throughout October to show solidarity and spark meaningful conversations.

πŸ•―οΈ Join Us at Our Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 15 (6:00 PM – 7:30 PM at the Mesilla Community Center) to honor survivor courage and remember loved ones.

πŸ‘• Visit the Clothesline Project on display at NMSU's Branson Library Atrium all month long to view survivor stories of strength and resilience.

πŸ“² Share Our Content & Helpline so anyone in need knows where to turn for confidential support.

To every survivor in our community: you are seen, you are heard, and you are never alone on your journey to safety.

Amplifying Survivor Voices at NMSU for DVAM

We were so honored to be on campus at New Mexico State University to share support and resources with Aggie students during the Clothesline Project!

Hosted by the NMSU Criminal Justice Program and spearheaded by Dr. Ahram Cho, this powerful, interactive exhibit brings campus-wide awareness to interpersonal, sexual, and domestic violence. Each shirt displayed tells a deeply personal story written by survivors and loved ones, turning statistics into real human experiences, healing, and strength.

Connecting with students, answering questions, and making sure everyone knows where to turn for help is at the heart of what we do. Community partnerships with dedicated educators like Dr. Cho make it possible to break the silence and build a safer campus culture for everyone.

If you haven't seen it yet, The Clothesline Project will be displayed throughout the entire month of October inside the Branson Library Atrium. We encourage every student, faculty member, and community neighbor to walk through, read the stories, and stand in solidarity with survivors.

We are still carrying the warmth and beauty of our Deming Candlelight Vigil in our hearts! Here are a few more special photos captured throughout the evening.

Every candle lit, every shared smile, and every brave voice reminded us of the strength that exists right here in Luna County. Thank you again to everyone who stood with us, shared space with us, and helped us honor domestic violence survivors and those we have lost.

If you were not able to make it to the Deming vigil, please consider joining us for the Las Cruces vigil! We would love to have you stand in solidarity with us as we continue honoring survivors and shining a light of hope across our entire community. πŸ’œβœ¨
