Larksville Borough will be participating in the Community Recycling Event on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 3-6 p.m., at the soccer fields in the Luzerne County Sports Complex on Camryn Way in Forty Fort. This event is being hosted by Representative Aaron Kaufer and the West Side COG.

To participate, residents must preregister and purchase a $35 tag at the Borough Building, 211 East State Street. Tags are for cars, trucks, SUVs. No commercial vehicles over ¾ ton. One TV or computer monitor is included in the tag price. Multiple TVs or computer monitors require additional tags at a cost of $30 for each additional TV or computer monitor.

All electronics authorized by Responsible Recycling Services will be accepted and are listed below. DAMAGED TVs or MONITORS WITH CRACKED SCREENS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Accepted materials are: Answering machines, CD players, camcorders, cameras, cellphones, cordless phones, copiers, DVD players, duplicators, fax machines, Gameboys, hard drives, laptops, mainframe computer equipment, microwaves, MP3 players, modems, Nintendo consuls, notebooks, pagers, personal computers, PlayStation, printers, printed circuit boards, radios, remote controls, tape players, satellite receivers, scanners, servers, shredders, speakers, stereos, televisions, telephones, testing equipment, transparency makers, typewriters, uninterrupted power supply systems, VCRs, Wiis, word processors and X-Boxes.

JOB TITLE: Code Enforcement Officer
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Larksville Borough is looking to hire a part-time Code Enforcement Officer; this position is responsible for conducting inspections in the Borough, for possible code violations, citations, and submitting monthly reports to the Council.
DUTIES: Receives requests, complaints and information from the public, staff, and/or elected officials and conducts investigations of potential code violations. Conduct field investigations; inspect properties for violations; attempt to make contact at the residence or business to resolve violation; issue and post warning notices, notices of violation, corrective notices, orders to comply, and related documentation for code violations; schedule and perform all follow-up functions to gain compliance including letters, inspections, calls, meetings, discussions, and negotiations to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and ordinances. Prepare evidence in support of legal actions taken by the Borough; appear in court as necessary; testify at hearings and in court proceedings as required. Prepare a variety of written reports, memos, and correspondence related to enforcement activities. Documents violations or potential violations of Borough Ordinances with photos, video, written notes, and written reports. Composes correspondence, reports, inspection reports, memos, and letters. This includes scanning and saving documents electronically in the correct format. Prepares citations and initiates other legal action as necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor and outdoor environments; work alone; travel from site to site; incumbents may be exposed to noise, dust, inclement weather conditions, and potentially hostile environments. Physical Demands Possibly negotiate rough terrain, stairs, etc. Conduct visual inspections & evaluations. Legally operate a motor vehicle.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, Fax machine, Copy machine, Camera, Borough vehicle (valid driver’s license). QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work independently perform a full range of municipal code enforcement and compliance duties. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Read and interpret legal documents and descriptions. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Type and enter data accurately at a speed necessary for successful job performance. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Salary will be determined depending on qualifications.

Free Tire collection; Tires must be WHOLE, REMOVED from RIMS, UNCUT and FREE of LIQUIDS and HEAVY MUD.
TRACTOR TRAILER TIRES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Luzerne County reserves the right to refuse any tires that are filled with water, dirt or are muddy.
