Perry Park Metropolitan District - Public Meeting Announcement regarding Gilloon Pond

Gilloon Pond is more than a feature of Perry Park. It is a habitat for birds and other wildlife that call Gilloon Pond their home. Over the past decades, however, the appearance of the pond has always changed. At certain times it even dried out completely, and now there are concerns about cattails growing excessively.
As stewards of the district’s land, it is the Perry Park Metropolitan District’s responsibility to manage these properties responsibly. The concerns of our residents are important and help guide the elected Board’s decisions.

The waters of the pond are also directly related to Gilloon Dam. And while the cattails are one easily visible aspect, the dam is retaining water that poses numerous issues, which the PPMD Board wishes to share. As a result, a public meeting is scheduled on May 28 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at Gilloon Pond Dam.

The agenda will include a brief history, sharing the results from the recent dam safety report conducted by the Colorado Division of Water Resources, potential courses of action and public input.
The dam is located East of Fox Way and between Pike Circle and South Pike Circle (GPS location: 39.262482, -105.002837). The meeting will be at the middle of the dam.

Firewise Community and Emergency Preparedness Meeting
Sponsored by Perry Park Metro District
April 4th, 9:00-11:00
Perry Park Country Club

Join us as we mark our 25th year as a Firewise Community. Larkspur Fire, Douglas County Sheriff Office, DC Emergency Management and Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) officials will be presenting. CSFS will give us an update on the "State of Our Forests." PPMD will also provide an update on the Fire Mitigation Cost-share Grant Program.

The meeting will be followed by an "Ember Awareness" class from 11:00-Noon. Learn simple techniques for hardening your home against ember blizzards that occur during wildfires. Embers, also called "Firebrands" are the number one cause of home losses.

25th Perry Park Firewise and Emergency Preparedness Meeting
April 4th, 9:00-11:00
Perry Park Country Club
Sponsored by Perry Park Metro District and Firewise Committee

Join us as we celebrate our 25th year as a Firewise USA Community. Speakers from the Larkspur Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Emergency Management and Colorado State Forest Service will provide information on how we can prepare for wildfires. Learn about the "State of our Forests", and how you can participate in the PPMD wildfire mitigation grants.

The meeting will be followed by a "Structural Hardening" class, from 11:00-noon, with ways you can harden your home against embers- the #1 cause if home losses.

Wildfire! It's not a matter of if, but when. Be aware. Prepare!

Douglas County Emergency Alerts- Emergency Contact Information Update Required
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office recently switched its Emergency Notification System (ENS) to SMART911. It is now called DougCoAlert. The previous system was Code Red and is no longer in service. In order to insure you stay in the DCSO system, you must log into the sheriff's office website and re-enter your contact information.
