UPDATE:

Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many compassionate souls, this campaign raised over $4,500 for Cindy and her three little dogs. While she awaits further assistance from FEMA, friends and neighbors have come together to provide a temporary roof—an amazing gift that has allowed Cindy and her beloved pups to move back into their home, even in its damaged state.

Because of every donation, Cindy has found more than just a place to lay her head; she’s found relief, comfort, and an unshakeable belief that she’ll make it through this hardship. She’s been touched by the kindness that poured in from both friends and strangers, each donation and message helping her feel less alone and giving her the strength to face each day with hope.

Cindy is profoundly grateful, her heart overwhelmed with thanks to each and every one of you. Your support hasn’t only helped her return home—it’s renewed her spirit, bringing a powerful reminder that even in times of loss, love and community will always be there to lift us up.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with everyone still enduring the hardships of these devastating hurricanes. To those who gave so generously to Cindy, and to all who have shown compassion and strength in this time of need—thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. You have made all the difference.

UPDATE:

As of this past weekend, Cindy and her three little dogs have managed to return to what remains of their home. Thanks to the kindness of some generous neighbors, a large blue tarp now covers what used to be their roof. But inside, the floors are severely damaged, and the entire structure is visibly bent and unstable.

Cindy is doing everything she can to find a contractor, just to get an estimate—something that’s crucial before any real repairs can begin. It’s been a struggle, though, as the demand is overwhelming, and resources are scarce in these hard-hit areas.

In an effort to help, my brother Mike is preparing to drive down from New York in his pickup, loaded with temporary supplies that can’t be found anywhere near the disaster zone. After he arrives, I’ll be flying down from Colorado to join him and Cindy. Together, we’ll work to secure a temporary roof and clear away some of the debris, trying to protect what’s left of her home from any further damage, especially with more rain in the forecast.

Your donations are already making a huge difference—not just in helping with temporary repairs and the long road to rebuilding, but in something even more profound. You’ve restored hope. You’ve shown Cindy that people still care—that even strangers are willing to extend a hand to help her through this unimaginable hardship. For that, we can’t thank you enough.

With that said we have not yet hit our fundraiser goal and still need your help. Please share the link with friends. Thank you so much.

Hi, my name is Tom Terwilliger. My wife, Dawn, our little Schnauzer Snoopy, and I live in the lovely, hurricane-safe town of Westminster, Colorado. But as you’ve probably seen in the news, much of the East Coast has been devastated by two massively destructive hurricanes in the past few weeks. The second one, Hurricane Milton, hit especially hard, and it has upended the life of someone very dear to us.

Our close friend Cindy, who lives in Tampa, Florida, had her entire world torn apart by this storm. Cindy is 60 years old, a loving, kind-hearted soul who has always been there for others. She had to evacuate her home with only minutes to spare, taking with her nothing but the clothes on her back and her three little dogs. It was a terrifying ordeal, but by the grace of God, they made it out alive. Sadly, that’s where the good news ends.

Cindy’s home was completely devastated by the hurricane. It’s no longer livable, and the damage is overwhelming. Every room, every cherished memory in that house has been destroyed. Right now, she’s staying with friends, but she’s heartbroken and struggling. FEMA is overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people in need of help, and while they’re trying their best, the assistance has been slow to arrive. Cindy can’t wait for that. She needs urgent support to begin repairing her home and rebuilding her life.

The home was a beautiful little trainer home, so Unfortunately her insurance does not cover the damage.

This is where we need your help. Cindy has always been a proud, independent woman, but this disaster has left her with no other option but to reach out to the kindness of others. We’re raising funds to help cover the cost of emergency repairs, temporary housing, and basic necessities lost in the devastation.

Specifically, Cindy's home needs a new roof, flooring, and furniture. Due to the overwhelming number of damaged and destroyed homes in the area, we are unable to find a contractor to come and give an estimate. But we've had contractors in Denver look over the damage and provide a rough estimate between $10,000 and $15,000.

No donation is too small—every single dollar will make a difference in helping Cindy get back on their feet and find some peace after this devastating storm.

Cindy is a fighter, but even the strongest among us need a hand sometimes. If you feel moved to contribute, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word. Together, we can make sure that Cindy and her pups have a safe home to return to.

Thank you for reading and for your generosity.
