Introducing PJ Library's College Storytellers Fellowship, a paid fellowship for 10–15 undergraduate and graduate students across North America who are interested in writing Jewish picture books. ⁠
⁠
• Fellowship Duration: October 2026 – July 2027⁠
• Deadline to apply: September 22, 2026⁠
• Write, workshop, and revise an original Jewish picture book manuscript for submission to PJ Library (participation does not guarantee publication)⁠
• Participate in monthly virtual workshops⁠
• Receive feedback from peers, mentors, and publishing professionals⁠
• Meet authors, illustrators, editors, literary agents, and publishers⁠
• Explore careers in children's publishing and the Jewish nonprofit world⁠
• Build lasting friendships with fellow storytellers ⁠

The legendary Dolly Parton has died at 80. In addition to being a cultural and personal inspiration to millions, she was known for her generosity and philanthropy. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library mails free books to kids every month, and inspired PJ Library, which helped grow into a thriving national program delivering Jewish books to families for over 20 years.

Thank you, Dolly, for inspiring generations of young readers.

We all mourn the loss of Dolly Parton. She was an inspiration behind PJ Library. Her contribution to children’s literacy is immeasurable. May her memory always be for a blessing 🙏🏻

PJ Library and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation team are sad to learn of the passing of musician, philanthropist, and American legend Dolly Parton. Dolly's Imagination Library helped inspire Harold Grinspoon to found PJ Library in 2005.

When Harold had the privilege of chatting with Dolly in 2023, she shared the following with him: "I am honored to get to help inspire a love of reading in children. They truly are our future."

Harold remembers Dolly as "a truly amazing person--not only a great artist, but a great entrepreneur and philanthropist. We honor Dolly for educating millions, for her remarkable career, her kindness, her art, and especially her generosity."

Most people spend their later years looking back. Harold Grinspoon has spent his reinventing himself.⁠

The businessman became a philanthropist. The philanthropist discovered Jewish children’s books and created PJ Library. In his late 80s, he became a sculptor after a cherry tree fell in his yard.⁠
⁠
Now, as he turns 97, Grinspoon is reflecting on the unexpected pivots that have defined both his life and his approach to Jewish giving.⁠

Known for innovative programs like PJ Library — which engages young Jewish families with monthly deliveries of age-appropriate children’s books and music — Grinspoon and his eponymous foundation have focused on programs that, in the spirit of the real estate business that made his fortune, build Jewish habits, institutions and relationships that he hopes will outlast him.⁠
