Yesterday, family, friends, and members of the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department celebrated the life of Firefighter/Paramedic Demair Lloyd. Demair passed away on May 30, in the Line of Duty, after experiencing a medical emergency shortly after returning home from his shift at Station 841/Calverton. A 20-year veteran of the fire service, Demair was a beloved and a highly respected member of the PGFD, known for his kindness and calm demeanor in high-stress situations. Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Fire Chief Thelmetria Michaelides has posthumously promoted Demair to the rank of Firefighter/Paramedic Lieutenant. Demair is survived by his wife, Maria, also a Firefighter/Paramedic with the PGFD, his twin sister Shamair, and a heartfelt legacy of love, service, strength, and compassion that will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in the PGFD.

Tomorrow, the PGFD will conduct a “Final Ride” in honor of Firefighter/Paramedic Demair Lloyd at the conclusion of his funeral service. The funeral procession is expected to have traffic impacts along Route 202 from Upper Marlboro to the Outer Loop of 495 and I-95 North, along Powder Mill Rd and Route 1 into Laurel from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Motorists can expect to see a large concentration of emergency vehicles and are asked to exercise caution if operating a vehicle in the area at those times.

Please be advised funeral service arrangements for Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Firefighter/Paramedic Demair Lloyd have been finalized and are as follows.
 
Viewings will take place Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, in Bowie.

An additional viewing will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., at Riverdale Baptist Church, 1177 Largo Road in Upper Marlboro.
 
Interment will occur at 2:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery, 13300 Baltimore Avenue, in Laurel.
 
A Repast will be held at the FOP Lodge 89, 2905 Old Largo Road Upper Marlboro, from 3:00 p.m .until 6:00 p.m..

House Fire, 3:06 am in the unit Block of Herrington Drive in Kettering. PGFD units arrived on scene of a 2-story split-level home w/ fire showing through the roof. Fire is out, no injuries. Fire investigators on scene.

Units came together to honor FF/PM Demair Lloyd with a Dignified Transfer over the last two days. Neighboring jurisdictions ensured seamless coverage for our community and stood with us during this solemn tribute.
