A moment 80 years in the making🎓 Yesterday afternoon at Sames Auto Arena, 100-year-old Estela Gallegos Pérez walked across the stage and officially received her Martin High School diploma alongside the Class of 2026.

In 1946, Estela was unable to complete her senior year after being misdiagnosed with tuberculosis. Though she eventually earned her GED through Laredo Junior College, the opportunity to receive her high school diploma remained close to her heart.

Yesterday, Tigerland helped complete that journey.

Mrs. Pérez’s story is one of resilience, determination, and the lasting impact of education. Laredo ISD is honored to celebrate this unforgettable milestone with her and her family.

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger. 🐯

🚗 Perfect attendance really paid off for J.W. Nixon High School student Samantha Ibarra! After showing up to school every single day for all 175 days of the 2025-2026 school year, Samantha drove away as the grand prize winner of a brand new 2026 Chevy Trax through the 13th Annual Drive Sames 4 Education Perfect Attendance Incentive Program!

Thanks to the generosity of Sames Auto Group and Laredo Federal Credit Union, Samantha also received the vehicle’s tax, title, and license.

This unforgettable moment is proof that dedication, discipline, and showing up every day can take you far — sometimes all the way to a brand new car!

Congratulations, Samantha!
