The 2026 Wyoming Archaeology Fair is THIS Saturday from 10 am until 3 pm at the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site. This event is FREE and open to the public. We hope to see you all there!

See you this weekend for the Wyoming Archaeology Fair! 🦣☀️

FREE, Family-Friendly & Open to the Public
📅September 12 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
📍Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site

All ages are welcome to learn more about the state's cultural heritage with multiple hands-on activities, including:
🏹 how to make an arrowhead,
🦣 throwing a spear with an atlatl,
⚱️making pottery,
🐇 painting rabbit hides,
and more!

Our special guests will be the Wind River Dancers, who perform from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The Wyoming State Archives, Wyoming Arts Council, and Wyoming State Historic Sites would like to invite you to a free public reception on Friday, May 29, 5-7 pm at the Wyoming Territorial Prison in Laramie, celebrating the opening of the Wyoming Veterans in Focus oral history and photo exhibit project. Public remarks from agency and state officials are scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm. The exhibit is currently OPEN for the public to visit - regular site fees apply for visits that are not part of the reception.

Did you know that during the winter, the inside of the Wyoming Territorial Prison was often only 20 or 30 degrees warmer than the outside temperature? This is why we only hire seasonal employees for the summer and fall, so that they don't end up looking like Jack Torrance at the end of the Shining. But we have great news! We ARE hiring for the 2026 summer season. If you are interested in joining us, please follow the QR code or click the link in the comments.

We hope you'll join us for our First Day Hike tomorrow! We'll be meeting at the Gift Shop at 10AM, and heading out to the Greenbelt from there. It's looking like things will be mostly cloudy and warm for our walk, but please be for ready for wind and cooler temperatures.
