FUZZY FRIDAY!!! 🐶
Meet Heart, with dispatcher Bri! She is a 9 year old Collie mix. She’s a little timid to start but warms up quickly, treats always help! She’s good with other dogs and kids, and seems ok with cats. She would do better with a fuzzy friend at home. Heart is already spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations and will be chipped before adoption.
Please come by and see Heart and all her friends at the Laramie Animal Control!! Any questions please call us at 307-721-5385.

The Laramie Police Department has the Carbon County Sheriff's Office and the Baggs community in our hearts following yesterday's officer involved shooting. Please join us in keeping the injured deputy and their family in your thoughts and prayers.

PRESS RELEASE: OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
DATE: 06082026

On Monday, June 8th, dispatchers with the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man with a gun in Baggs, located in southwestern Carbon County.

The subject opened fire on the initial responding deputy, striking him several times.

The suspect fled the scene in a small truck. Additional responding deputies and troopers with the Wyoming Highway Patrol engaged in a pursuit with the suspect vehicle on Highway 789 north of Baggs. The suspect opened fire on law enforcement again before driving off the highway and coming to a stop. The suspect was declared deceased at the scene.

The wounded deputy was transported to a medical facility in Colorado by Intermountain Air Ambulance.

Additional units from agencies across the state responded to assist.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

Please keep our injured deputy and their family in your thoughts and prayers.

IT’S FUZZY FRIDAY!!!!
It’s a beautiful summer day for PSAP Manager Kim and our 4 legged friend Sky who is a malamute/husky mix (maybe a little to warm for Sky 🥵). Sky is around 7 1/2-8 years old. She is all caught up on her vaccinations and is already spayed and will be microchipped before adoption. She does well with other dogs and kiddos, but we aren’t sure how she does with cats.
As you probably know she will leave little tuffs of hair all over so you don’t loose her 😝, and is excited to meet you!!
If you want more information on Sky, or any of our other animals, please call the Laramie Animal Control at 307-721-5385.

The field day fun continues! What better way to count down to summer break than tug of war against the kids of Indian Paintbrush Elementary. Lt. Hutchinson and Sgt. Groose thought they had this one… but the kids had a different idea!

Thanks for including us, Indian Paintbrush Elementary!

Spent the day at Washington Park with Snowy Range Academy Public Charter School for their field day! We talked about the importance of physical fitness in law enforcement and then let the kids prove it on the obstacle course. They did not disappoint. Big thanks to SRA for including us!

Please join us in celebrating the retirement of Sergeant Chip Cirillo after 20 years of service!

Sgt. Cirillo began his law enforcement career with the Albany County Sheriff's Office in 2006, serving in the jail, on patrol, and as a task force officer with Wyoming DCI. He joined the Laramie Police Department in 2015, serving on patrol and as a task force officer with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. A member of the Laramie Special Response Team from 2007 to 2026, he was promoted to Sergeant in 2025.

He instructed in many disciplines, including Active Shooter Threat Response, Emergency Vehicle Operations, and Tactical Medical Instruction, and taught hundreds of classes to schools, businesses, and community groups on active shooter response, bike safety, and Stop the Bleed.

A familiar face throughout Laramie, Sgt. Cirillo built relationships across the community and was a strong representation of the department during his tenure. From the classrooms where he taught to the organizations he worked alongside, he made a real impact in Laramie.

Sgt. Cirillo, thank you for your leadership and service!

Congratulations to the 2026 Community Academy participants who wrapped up the program on May 6th! 👏

Over the past several weeks, they showed up ready to learn more about how our department operates. Through patrol procedures, investigations, hands-on demonstrations, and behind-the-scenes tours, they gained valuable insight into the work that goes into keeping our community safe. Programs like this go both ways. Our community learned about us, and we learned just as much from them.

Thank you to our 2026 class for investing your time in us!
