Thursday, Sept. 10 — What’s Happening

Strength Is Growing Behind the Scenes

Creating Grace & Faith Adaptive Curriculum requires many different kinds of work—writing lessons, reviewing Scripture, developing learning supports, preparing materials, and asking others to help strengthen the finished curriculum.

Philippians 4:13 is a good reminder during this process. Christ gives us strength not only for the exciting milestones, but also for the quiet, faithful work that happens behind the scenes.

Every completed lesson and every careful review brings us one step closer to helping adults with intellectual challenges grow in God’s Word.

Thank you for praying for SG Hulett Ministries as we continue preparing for the January 2027 launch.

DSP Recognition Week is September 13-19th!!! 🥳

What is a DSP? 🤔

DSP stands for Direct Support Professional, and their job is to assist individuals with disabilities with living their best lives! ✨

Their day to day work might look like providing transportation and support at home, appointments, shopping, work, leisure, and more!

Our wonderful team of over 35 DSPs help adults and children with disabilities across the Laramie, WY area.

Please join us in celebrating and thanking them for their vital work! 💜

Image description: This graphic has a dark colored background with a white scribble section across the middle. In black letters on top of the white section, the title and caption read, "Thank you Direct Support Professionals DSP Recognition Week 2026." In each of the four corners are a heart shaped picture featuring Peace of Mind DSPs with participants enjoying time out in the community at sporting events and other places. Centered in the middle of the bottom of the graphic is the POM logo and a few doodled white heart outlines.

♿ Accessibility Moment #97: Can Anyone Tell Me What's Wrong With This Picture?

Look closely. Do you see it?

This is what we call a "RAMP TO NOWHERE" - and it's a perfect example of how NOT to do accessibility.

At first glance, it looks like they tried. There are steps AND a ramp going to the front doors. But look again...

Here is what's WRONG:

You can't even GET to the ramp. There's a STEP at the bottom of the sidewalk to get up to the ramp and stairs. So if you are a wheelchair user, you are blocked before you even get to the so-called accessible route.

The ramp is way too steep and narrow. A safe, ADA-compliant ramp needs a gentle slope (1:12) and level landings. This is a ski slope.

No handrails on the ramp. And the one handrail they do have is only on the stairs on one side.

No level landing at the top. You are dumped right into the stairs. If you are in a wheelchair, you have no room to turn, stop, and open the door.

This is what happens when accessibility is an afterthought. When someone says "just put a ramp there" without understanding what real access is.

Accessibility is not just a slab of concrete. It's a thought process. It's measurements, slope, landings, railings, and most importantly, LIVED EXPERIENCE.

This ramp doesn't give access. It gives the ILLUSION of access.

Real access motivates progress. This? This stops it cold.

Have you ever seen a ramp like this? Drop it in the comments.
