Our 911 dispatchers had a great time at the La Porte County Fair, stepping out from behind the scenes to meet members of our community. While we’re usually the calm voice on the other end of the phone, last week we had the opportunity to share what happens during day-to-day operations at our dispatch center and answer questions about the important work our dispatchers do every day.

We especially enjoyed talking with the kids! They asked great questions, and learned what it’s like to be a 911 dispatcher.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We love the opportunity to connect with our community, educate the public, and inspire the next generation of first responders. We hope to see you again soon! β€οΈπŸ“žπŸš”πŸš’πŸš‘

Don’t forget to stop by Commercial Building 1 at LAPORTE COUNTY FAIR and see our lovely ladies working the 911 booth. The girls will be there until 6pm and have some goodies to hand out. Ask them some questions about 911 and what we do. πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›

It is with heavy hearts and profound frustration that we write this today. Another member of our public safety family has been seriously injured in the line of duty.

Our thoughts, prayers, and unwavering support are with Indiana State Police Sergeant Justin Heflin, who was shot while working to protect our community.

This hits incredibly hard, as it marks the second law enforcement officer to be injured in the line of duty within our county in just the past couple of months.

The toll this is taking on our brothers and sisters in blueβ€”and our entire first responder communityβ€”is devastating. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Indiana State Police during this incredibly difficult time.

To Sgt. Heflin and his family: LaPorte County EMS stands firmly with you. We are praying for your strength, your comfort, and a full recovery. You are , and you do not fight this battle alone.

During National Police Week, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the law enforcement officers who serve and protect our communities every day.

As dispatchers, we hear the calls, the urgency, the uncertainty, and the strength behind every response. We are grateful to stand beside the officers who answer those calls without hesitation.

Thank you for your service, your bravery, and your commitment to keeping our communities safe. We remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and we continue to support the officers and families who carry that legacy forward.

Stay safe, and know your service matters β€” today and every day. πŸ’™πŸš”
